Ironic that it keeps going for a font that's meant to evoke concrete, hand-made human artistry. Or is that user selection bias, I wonder?

By George, I think he's got it... (Although even picking the most AI-ish offerings on that site, they're all still noticeably *better* than AI posters; more consistent aesthetics, fewer random fonts, more minimalist design)

okay I am ten minutes in to episode one and this is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen in my LIFE “We have doors slamming, taps turning on, a fishbowl in the kitchen spontaneously smashed,” home inspector walks in: “okay so first off, I see they have a cat”

Not to mention reading the room. Like, sure you could put jokes and silly voices in an audiobook, but how do you know which ones make them laugh? Which ones they've gotten bored of? Which ones they get inexplicably freaked out by and demand you never do again?

"cuddling"? You read to them *while* you're cuddling! If you're lying there holding them while playing a recording of your own voice, sounds harmless tbh, though you could stand to be at least a little present. Plus you won't get much done in the meantime so I'm not sure I see the point.

If anything, things get more elite the *fewer* people buy them. It's just that in practice the sellers have to find some balance between perfect exclusivity and actually making any money.

there are many reasons I think Night Watch is the best Discworld book it has some of Terry’s best character work, and sharpest social commentary, and tightest plotting, and getting to see the younger version of everyone is a blast and also it has maybe the best stupid pun he ever wrote

What is the IceCube neutrino observatory? Neutrinos are elusive particles that rarely interact, but can create flashes of light when they do. Most neutrino detectors are giant water tanks surrounded by light detectors. IceCube is kilometer-long strings of detectors embedded in the Antarctic ice.

I'm convinced AI is our generation's radium - a discovery with genuinely useful applications in specific, controlled circumstances that we stupidly put in everything from kid's toys to toothpaste until we realised the harm far too late where future generations will ask if we were out of our minds.

My workplace went paperless a couple of years ago and they got rid of the filing cabinets. Unfortunately it turns out there are still a bunch of important paper documents we can't help using, so now they just sit on desks or random shelves. On a completely unrelated note, we also use Google Drive.

final panel shows nancy looking behind the bushes but the text from r crumbs "lookit that stupid ass-hole!" meme panel placed atop it so that nancy is looking in disgust at sluggo saying
"I loathe ever person i see on the street! Lookit that stupid ass-hole!"
with text saying "normal guy" pointing at sluggo.
the whistling from the original panel has been removed and the whistling from the r crumb panel has been placed there instead.

I don't read that quote as referring to one set of individuals making that entire journey. Some ancestors started in Latvia and fled because of pogroms. Various descendants, who may or may not be his branch of the tree, faced subsequent persecution. He admits to being confused about it!

The essence of a great three star review from SD here. And why newspapers must stop insisting their reviewers pretend everything is one or five stars, for clicks. Most things are three stars. And that is always worth dissecting.
