Not to harp on this, but one man has now coordinated the disruption of a port, two separate attacks on the RNLI, and interference with the border force and the police have no further questions? And the Home Secretary has not noticed?

Seeing a lot of this, and firstly, I don’t think it’s necessarily true. The Liberal Democrats could well end up in government after the next election. Secondly, having a “serious vibe” matters. Saying the Growth Fairy will give you £17bn for tax cuts is not serious.

at this point I really do see this type of sentiment as symptomatic of a much broader attitude very popular in online left of centre circles which prefers scapegoats to solidarity and rejects the idea of ever having to make any sort of communal sacrifice in favour of blaming someone else

Ultimately, British politics is simple in a way: people don't like the Cameron deal: they don't get as much state as they used to and although they have had substantial tax relief, they don't feel it. Either need to have huuuge cuts in spending and more tax cuts Or raise taxes and spending.

Subsidising energy consumption in the face of both a short-term supply shock and the long-term need to decarbonise. Bad for the economy, bad for the planet, bad for the world's poor. And *if* you favour a wealth tax (I am sceptical but there's a case) spending it on *this" is just idiotic.
