i get why AI is so depressing to me. because covid already shrunk my world to almost nothing, where almost all of my life revolves around socializing and watching videos on the internet (which is being ruined by AI) and creating creative works through coding (which is being ruined by AI), often using open source tools and libraries (which are being ruined by AI)

i already had so little and now even that is being rotted away before my eyes

One of the worst aspects of internet and social media imo is that they've replaced the concept of the "third place" for so many people. Which makes them less likely to do stuff in the real world. It's very difficult to break out of that cycle too, if you don't know how to find your irl 3rd space.

I hate how every time I see a recomp project turn out to use AI, I think of that "Fastest Mario" tweet. Because I always think about how vibe coding is just people that want to "'Go fast' rather than 'do it right'". But that line comes from that tweet and it feels wrong to even reference.
