Yes every woman has been harassed, many assaulted. But every woman has also experienced invisible loss from moments she avoided harassment. She felt a space becoming unsafe, so she left, while men stayed on. And in leaving, she lost: opportunities, experiences, learning, promotions, even simply fun.

I heard Ibram X Kendi talk about this book on CBC and added it to my library holds. Finally reading it now. It's eye-opening and terrifying to face how insidious great replacement theory is. You think you know but it takes you deeper down the rabbit hole. It's an important read. I recommend it.

Dictatorships not only seek to end free elections, they invariably target democracies next door. Only the Canadian government can intervene here, as companies are beholden to profits above people. Failure to do so will be at our peril. Unfortunately, I do not have faith in our neolib government.

Canada promised FIFA ‘appropriate’ labour law exemptions for World Cup, document reveals www.thestar.com/gift-redeem?...
The assurance was put in writing, in a February 2018 letter from then-employment minister Patty Hajdu to FIFA president Gianni Infantino, which was released under Canada’s access-to-information laws. A copy of the previously released records were then obtained by the Star.

“Applications for Ministerial Permits authorizing work hours in excess of the maximum hours of work and/or exemptions to the weekly day of rest requirement will be administered in a timely manner, and, when reasonable and appropriate, granted,” Hajdu’s letter to Infantino reads.

Loaves and Fishes

This is not

This is *not*

Forget the news,

This is the time

At this important moment for our country’s future, Canadians with a broad range of experience and perspectives are uniting to build Canada strong. I am honoured to welcome Marilyn Gladu today as the newest member of this government and our Liberal caucus.

In a time of global economic uncertainty, Canada’s success will depend on how we build ambition into progress and strengths into sustained advantage. Marilyn brings the practical, results-driven leadership this effort demands.

Having spent decades of her career in engineering and international business, she understands what it takes to create good jobs, strengthen supply chains, and ensure Canadian industry can compete in a rapidly changing global economy.

She has been elected by the people of Sarnia—Lambton–Bkejwanong in four straight elections since 2015, and repeatedly earned recognition from colleagues across Parliament for her proven willingness to work constructively across party lines.

I’m looking forward to working closely with Marilyn to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy, meeting the challenges of a changing world with lasting opportunities for all.

I'd really like to see leadership calling for impeachment and removal, regardless of whether they have the votes to get it done. Same way we called for marriage equality before we had the votes. A leader's job is to lead. If a genocidal threat isn't impeachable, then nothing is.

A WHOLE CIVILIZATION
WILL DIE TONIGHT
My son needs lunch, and I have to put his backpack together, but a whole civilization will die tonight, so I'm wondering if they've closed their schools.
Like, a snow day, maybe, except instead of snow it's
"keep your children home so if you die, you die together" — instead of "well open back up once the plows have cleared" it's
"we don't know if we'll be here tomorrow, hold your babies tight."
It's just "talk" I'm told, which I've been told before.
"It's how the president makes his deals." But I've never heard anyone talk about other human beings this way, and I'm not certain I can look my son in the eyes if we all agree to stomach it one more time.
A civilization will die tonight, but as I zip up his backpack and kiss him off to school I think: if this is what we call leadership then I'm not entirely sure ours isn't already dead.
