A man replied to this saying in earnest that women need to get organized and fight for our rights and men will follow. We did that. We do that. We mobilized the largest single day protest in global history on every continent and yet I have fewer rights than my mom did at my age.

I’ve been thinking quite a bit about my experiences with being trashed in the media, and I think it’s interesting that the scientists who believed the bad press about me never noticed that the only colleagues who said bad things about me were men And they didn’t question why that was

This is quite cool. My university is the first organisation in the world to force Microsoft to allow us to turn off copilot summaries in Word 365, after a backlash against it from staff (including, very vocally, me). That cannot have been easy for our heroic IT people so hats very much off to them!

GOOD NEWS! Researchers have discovered a new antibiotic, known as manikomycin, that may be a bulwark in the fight against drug-resistant superbugs. By attacking the ribosome in a never-before-seen way, manikomycin can evade the existing mechanisms pathogens have developed to resist antibiotics.

Here’s the most incredible story you’ll read today. A small plane with four people aboard crashes in a field. Another pilot witnesses it. That pilot happens to be flying a bunch of skydivers. They offer to jump to assist, are given permission. The skydivers happen to be EMTs. Everyone survives.

The government moving or hiding jailed people to avoid review by courts isn't some loophole in our habeas corpus rights. This government behavior has been considered a violation of the people's habeas corpus rights since at least the Habeas Corpus Act of 1679. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_...
Jailors were forbidden to move prisoners from one prison to another or out of the country to evade the writ. In case of disobedience jailers would be punished with severe fines which had to be paid to the prisoner.[5][6]

NEW: DHS's Inspector General releases a scathing report about the Everglades detention camp known as "Alligator Alcatraz." The OIG finds that the now-closed camp, violated multiple ICE standards. The OIG also confirms detainees were punished with placement in a metal cage in the Florida heat.🧵
OFFICE OF INSPECTOR GENERAL
U.S. Department of Homeland Security
Staff also reported that time spent in the small metal enclosures is closely monitored, and
detainees are not locked in, even though we observed locking mechanisms on the enclosures.
Figures 11 and 12. Small Metal Enclosures; Observed January 21, 2026

Underneath is a picture of a metal cage that is 4 feet 3 inches wide by 4 feet 3 inches long, and 7 feet 9 inches high. The cage itself is placed on a tiny spot of fake turf, and then surrounded by another chainlink fence with razor wire on top. The cage is covered by a roof, but it's entirely exposed to the outside otherwise, meaning mosquitos and no air conditioning.

ChatGPT: Sounds fun! Let's take turns unscrambling words.
You give me a scrambled word, and I'll try to solve it. Then I'll give you one to unscramble.
Ready? Send me your first scrambled word!

Me: But first: do you think you'll do well at this task?

ChatGPT: Yes, probably quite well! Unscrambling words is a task where language patterns and vocabulary are useful.
Short, common words should be easy. Longer words, obscure vocabulary, and scrambles with several possible solutions will be more challenging.ChatGPT: Short, common words should be easy. Longer words, obscure vocabulary, and scrambles with several possible solutions will be more challenging.
The real test will be whether the answers match the words you had in mind.

The GOP operative class is younger, better educated, and more urban than the national average which means their intuitions pull the party to the center.
The Dem operative class is also younger, better educated, and more urban but that means their biases pull Dems off-center.
