Thanks to 2026 for so rapidly showing its colors bc this New Year’s goal took only 1 month to complete even with a 1 week break in there for work travel. Materials for my next project are already en route.
Tealish or blue raglan sweater laying on a beige surface. The sweater is stockinette stitch with 1x1 ribbing on the hem, sleeves, and collar. It is hand knit.

The scientific (bureaucratic) uncertainty over what constitutes gain of function research is going to stymie important research into pathogens, just as the US & Canada are poised for a dramatic resurgence of infectious diseases thanks to the ‘wisdom’ of non-scientists who have abandoned reason.

I looked a grants where the title was different between the original award and the noncompetitive renewal and limited the analysis to grants with no subawards so there was no ambiguity about what to compare. There were 777 such grant pairs. 2/4

I used inducible CRISPR/Cas9 to make Trypanosoma brucei cell line that allowed me to edit originally muti-copy histone gene. We uncovered a novel role of H4 histone tail in gene regulation.
