Mark Allen Shepherd as Morn in his seat at Quark's (note the lack of replicator and generally unfinished look of the set) during production of "Emissary".

Morn originated as a sketch based on a bulldog which Makeup Supervisor Michael Westmore drew on the back of a shooting script. According to Westmore, the Morn mask underwent several revisions to fit alongside the franchise's aliens before it was approved by the producers: "Several heads were made for Morn to appear in DS9: 'Emissary'... some of the heads they felt were a little too far out, that they weren't quite STAR TREK."

I also haven't seen many people talk about them but the themes are pretty on the nose and easy to pick up imo, which may be why. Mostly about the anxieties/fears of parenthood on a personal level and wider themes of corporations running the world into the ground with no accountability.

The type of person who looks at Jill Sandwich or RE4's bingo line and think it's cringe instead of campy fun. Tbf I think some of the camp was unintentional in the original games but I believe it was intentional as time passed and became a core part of the series' identity.

I think this take is mostly coming from people who don't vibe with the story and characters because campy b-horror just isn't their thing and that's fine but this movie made me think of Evil Dead 2 in its first act and that's a phenomenal starting point for a Resident Evil movie.

Resident Evil is a series best looked at through the lens of campy B-horror from the 80's and 90's. These vibes are all over the games and attempts to make them more grimdark and serious have mostly fallen flat imo. Both are at their best when they're indulging in silly shit with a wink and a nod.

Lanterns has been a great show so far but as the modern Discourse Machine spins around it people are rushing to have Takes about the season and are basically writing fanfiction of what they think the show is going to do, critiquing their fanfiction, and then presenting it as analysis. It's so lazy.

There's a weird thing that happens nowadays when a show like Lanterns airs weekly where people rush out of the woodwork between episodes to craft a Definitive Take about the themes and how it sticks the landing or doesn't and I think it's fucking absurd to analyze an ongoing series that way.

After how aggressively okay to kind of bad the Ashoka finale was I have lost hope in Star Wars being good again outside of the games. Disney would never show Jango Fett's decapitation or Anakin cutting off Count Dooku's hands and their aversion to on-screen lightsaber violence is really felt.
