@AdvanceBase

My kid just told my wife that before she (my kid) was born, she (my kid) was her (my wife's) tooth fairy when SHE (my wife) was a kid. & now my kid has all of my wife's old baby teeth in HER mouth. We're all feeling pretty fucked up about it.

Romance novels used to be about dukes and rakes and women in bodices. Now, romance novels are about magical fantasy daddies and gay hockey players. I'm here to propose... the future *pulls down big chart that has 'gay fantasy daddies in bodices' circled in red marker*

Speaking as a parent, what I want is for my kids to be happy and healthy. If that means being far away from me, so be it. Any parent who demands their kids sacrifice themself to please Mom and Dad has failed as a parent, IMO, and I hope their kids get far, far away.

It’s not a big deal at all, but my state fair operators have demolished the food stands that make the fair a fair and replaced it with a big grey box that will have a food hall. At this point, just cancel fall and cancel me. nothing matters anymore.

My lovely and talented wife, @jrblackwell.bsky.social, requested a vampire-themed dinner party, where all the food was either black, white or red. With that brief--and a personal desire to make everything look as bloody or as bleached as possible--I concocted the following menu for tonight:

Now that we're a certain age, about once a month we get an invitation to a STEAK DINNER FOR TWO from some retirement planning organization and all I can figure is that these people haven't changed their Boomer-centric approach since the 1960's, so why would I choose them? (also, we don't eat meat!)

The formatting of this Beckett quote does still represent resilience and determination, just of a very different sort.
A neon light art piece of Samuel Beckett's famous quote "I can't go on. I'll go on" but spaced - it would seem inadvertently- so that it reads "I can't goon. I'll goon".

So as divorce got more acceptable, more people in unhappy marriages got out? I... uh... don't think this comparison is doing what the author wants it to do, unless they fundamentally believe divorce is wrong.
Quote from article: "Many experts believe that estrangements between adult children and their parents are becoming an epidemic in the U.S., just like divorce in the 1970s. Much like then, the movement is driven by a convergence of large societal trends—this time the rise of social-media algorithms, changing therapeutic approaches and a broadening definition of trauma."

These threats are deplorable. Trump is talking to the UN about annihilating countries while the cost-of-living skyrockets, and Republicans still refuse to bring the House into session. Americans aren't asking Congress to send bombs abroad—they're asking Congress to lower costs.
