you're not making it because the question you're really trying to answer is about the acceptable aesthetics of death, not about its purpose.

Even if Amy and Vivek felt the same about the rights of trans Ohioans (they don’t), I’m curious why other policy differences wouldn’t matter. Why their positions on education, Medicaid expansion, free speech (drag show ban!), public benefits, voting rights, and immigration are outside the purview.

9/11 is a great day to reread my viral Seinfeld spec and to remember I’m one of the most talented TV writers available to write for your show. I have $225k in student loans and my family is about to pay OOP for my dad’s post-stroke rehab, so you’d better believe I’m gonna give you my best!

We already spend 20% of the budget (and growing!) on interest payments and the median voter has demonstrated that he would send his neighbors to the camps if you promised him it'd reduce inflation by 0.005%. The reserve currency buffer is shrinking.

When normie establishment Dems did this, people interpreted it as a sign that establishment Dems actually just loved Republicans and the outrage/anger they expressed was keyfabe. Can we all recognize the double standard here?

The reason the left needs to embrace this thought is that the only way to pay for Nordic-style social democracy in America is to raise broad-based taxes across the board, and we'll never be able to do that if we operate under an ideological principle that almost everyone in America is poor.

I will posit that no non-Jew should be making this argument. Goyim arguing "Bibi and AIPAC Bad For The Jews because they make goyim hate Jews" will *always* function as an excuse for antisemitism, no matter how many "not me, I'm immune" disclaimers are thrown in by the speaker.

“Clanker” is becoming a rehearsal for the pleasure of having an intelligent servant class one may insult without consequence. Whatever current models are, that appetite belongs to humans and is already observable. I don't need the ontology settled to find it ugly.

Leftists for economic illiteracy continues to suck ass because leftism/progressivism is THE movement that needs a robust understanding of economics. You’re attempting to redistribute resources for a more egalitarian society, the more *efficient* your policy is the better it is.

I’m visiting my parents and I just put my own dog out in the yard because their dogs were ganging up and barking at him whenever he tried to play with us and the noise was driving us all insane. I felt a pang of shame as I realized I’m no better than the people telling Will Stancil to get off Bsky.

6. That Roy Jenkins speech where he said the struggle of Labour was to transform a party that fought for a poor majority against a rich minority into one that had to enlist a rich and middle class majority to help a poor minority is basically the struggle of post-WW2 Western leftism and liberalism.
The next Labour Government can be content with nothing less than the elimination of poverty as a social problem. ... The Labour movement was created to fight against a wealthy minority on behalf of a poor majority. Now it has a more complex and demanding task. It has to enlist the majority in a struggle on behalf of a poor minority, who on grounds of age or health or family circumstances or disgracefully low pay are unable to help themselves. No one has a right to expect a fair deal for himself unless he is prepared to work for one for others too.
Speech in Worsley, Lancashire (11 March 1972), quoted in The Times (13 March 1972), p. 4

How could I be? How can anyone who abhors the oppression of Negroes be in favor of degrading classes of white people? Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal except negroes." When the Know-nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes and foreigners and Catholics." When it comes to this, I shall prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty,--to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocrisy.

it's worth noting that the quote they went out of their way to make look stupid was expressing a reasonable point — a restatement of the long-standing official US policy in fact! — and the quote they clean up and sanitize is expressing a deranged threat of war crimes in an illegal conflict

I don't know what SCOTUS will do on birthright citizenship case, it's anybody's guess. But if they endorse Trump's diktat, the only response is defiance. Outright, open defiance by the states. A decision not just erroneous but illegitimate, beyond their power, null and void from the day it's issued.

A lot of SCOTUS decisions are dumb, badly reasoned, even dangerous, but merit compliance out of respect for the rule of law and the Court's position under Article III. A decision denying birthright citizenship is a challenge to the constitutional order and should be understood as such.
