@JoshDenny
I’ll be 43 in a week. I’ve been mostly single for the past 18 months, and I’m just now realizing that my intelligence has ALWAYS been THE biggest issue in my relationships.

Not getting old, or fat; Not having professional failures.

Look at dating site blurbs. No woman EVER lists high IQ or intelligence in their “wants” section.

Women actually DESPISE men of high intelligence.

It is their single greatest insecurity.Tweet from Josh Denny @joshdenny

NEW: Housing Sec Angela Rayner took £20,000 in speaker fee from an anti-rent controls lobbying group just weeks before ruling out a rent freeze in what campaigners from London Renters Union have called a conflict of interest. Read all about it here: wefightthegoodfight.substack.com/p/rayner-tak...

do think it’s pretty appalling that employers can’t even send you a generic email to say your application is not being considered for interview. the hours that an applicant spends on a single application warrants that at least!

* BREAKING: The Secret Service has launched an investigation into the escalator situation at the United Nations today, per Karoline Leavitt
If someone did this intentionally, they should be
CRIMINALLY charged.
It put President Trump is a VERY compromising position.
"If we find that these were UN staffers who were purposefully trying to trip up President Trump and FLOTUS well, there better be accountability for those people," Leavitt saidSteve Cortes @CortesSteve

Considering the recent trend of left wing violence, including Pres Trump taking a bullet to the head, crap stunts like this one cannot be tolerated.

NEW Has the government overreached in using terrorism law against Palestine Action? A disclosed MI5 document indicates that the basis for proscription may be weak By me, at @prospectmagazine.co.uk www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/th...
The New York Times has now published a document which sets out the government’s basis for the proscription. This is the “open” version of the MI5 assessment that has been placed before the courts in litigation challenging the proscription. The judges would also see a “closed” version with material not to be placed in the public domain.

One hopes the “closed” version is a far more impressive document than the one published, which is a flimsy and unconvincing piece of work. The assessment even admits—twice—that most of the activity of Palestine Action cannot be called terrorism.

The document overall reads as if it has been compiled backwards, intending to justify a conclusion that needed to be reached. If so, it will not be the first intelligence document to have been created in such a way.

The assessment relies on the group having caused “serious” property damage, which is the relevant statutory test. The problem here is that the spraying of paint and graffiti by the group does not meet the threshold of seriousness.

The document also relies on “open source” estimates of the cost of damage which, if one looks at the cited sources, trace back to a claim which the police themselves put to arrested protesters in interview. As such there is a certain circularity: the state is relying on the state claiming the damage is serious.

In Britain, every time you... — turn on a tap — flip a light switch — board a train or bus — post a letter — drop your child at nursery ... you take part in a system designed to extract wealth & concentrate power. 🧵 From cradle to grave, this is how a failed experiment has shaped your life.

Good explainer thread on this chaos from @archimbaldo.bsky.social
Archie Woodrow
Context:
1. Peace & Justice Project (PJP), led by
Pamela Fitzpatrick & factional allies from ex-
LOTO/ex-Unite/Collective networks (e.g.
Karie Murphy, Amy Jackson, Alan Gibbons, Sean Halsall) controlled Your Party mailing
list

2. but MOU Ltd, controlled by Feinstein, Driscoll, and Winter (now Sultana allies), controlled Your Party finances & donor information - this was part of a compromise to balance power between two factions

3. Sultana's team claim that Sultana & Corbyn agreed joint sign-off on all official
Your Party statements. Corbyn's team dispute this and think agreement was for majority decision of the 6 independent MPs
4. Sultana was refusing to sign-off on anything until agreement could be reached on a new organising committee to steward the process, rather than six MPs having
oversight

5. Sultana's team want joint leadership but feel Sultana and her allies are being completely excluded from the project

B. Recent events:
6. e-mail went out on Monday to full Your
Party e-mail list announcing conference plans without Sultana's sign-off (reportedly
Sultana doesn't object to the plans themselves, but to the process & team
overseeing it)

7. Sultana's team hear that a membership system is about to be launched, which would send membership fees to PJP, and therefore give PJP complete control over the new party
- data, finances, mailing list, and
membership system

8. Sultana's team use main Your Party mailing list to launch membership system,
connected to separate website, where all data and finances are controlled by MOU, as they fear it's their last chance to avoid being completely excluded from the process

9. PJP, Corbyn's constituency office, Your Party, We Demand Change, and possibly other orgs, with a variety of different staff and volunteers, all operate out of the same office - so potentially a lot of people may have been in a position to access that10. unclear who PJP authorised to access the mailing list, whether they gave people from Sultana's team access, etc - so not 100% clear yet whether or not this is actually a data breach
