EV charging prices on the public network in England is absolutely outrageous. This is not how to stop people using fossil fuels. It needs capping.

A colleague of mine is carrying out some research for the Bristol Council's Adult Social care service and is looking for carers to take part in some 1-2-1 interviews. Any Bristol folks out there who could share this further or take part? #bristol digital.bristol.gov.uk/contact/help...

Why are we supposed to be impressed that a robot beat Bolt's running record? There are millions of machines that can go faster than any human alive. There's so many of these machines, the traffic they cause frequently keeps them from moving at all. Where's the "reverse climate change" machine?

For all human history, it was far more difficult to write a document than to read it. Until now. But generating a document doesn't make the work of *producing meaning* disappear. It's just been outsourced from the producers of the document to its consumers.

I talk a great deal about reading for pleasure; I’ve written elsewhere about the necessity of pleasure in the classroom, and why it is not an optional extra but the hallmark of true education. We must find ways to show children that reading gives you access to an inexhaustible source of delight. But I worry, too, that we are limiting the meaning of the word pleasure. Learning is a strange and discomfiting experience; it’s a struggle and a frustration, and epiphanies are rare. It is not always pleasure in its easiest sense.

That Google Glass was a perfect example of human-centred prototype seems forgotten. They built it, deployed and discovered how much people (not the users alone) loathed it and they stopped it. Didn’t iterate it, didn’t try to fudge the results and blame people, just accepted it was a bad product.
