Hadn’t attended exhibition of service/tech providers to blind & visually impaired people for years. Not much changed: still group of companies selling wildly overpriced tech, near zero knowledge among older people of how much smartphones can do for free and deep confusion about govt care providers

Finally finished Community Safety on the Fourth World War. It’s not a long book but the use of obtuse academic language makes it really hard to understand what matters. It’s like reading Will Self explaining how to open a pack of crisps.

One point made in The Odyssey movie is that if you trash the formal social rules about invitations and welcomes then you destroy your society. Diplomacy is tightly held interaction because you welcome horrible people in and expect them to invite you in too.

Use of TimeLines rather than Spatial Maps as a community tool is interesting point in book. That people know they live in a place and don’t need that reflected back. However, time (past, present and future) is harder to perceive. Especially as people live and move in differing time scales.
