I’ll probably bungle this explanation, so please give me grace. But having kids of my own has solidified my belief, formed when I teaching, that letting your boys be “raised by the internet” is a sure-fire way to raise a dangerous abuser. It’s not a safe place. It’s not entertaining.

it's two things, to me: 1) trans rights matter because trans people matter and deserve rights, not just because failing to stand for trans rights is a bellwether for inauthentic progressivism more broadly 2) if you can't be trusted on trans rights you can't be trusted on anything

Ben Ryan claims GAC shouldn’t be considered life-saving care because (thankfully) completed suicides are so rare studies have not been able to measure reductions in deaths. Nevermind studies consistently show it reduces suicidality and drastically improves mental health and quality of life outcomes.

In my experience (obv anecdotal), the common denominators don't include access to healthcare, but underlying anxiety, susceptibility to "I know something others don't" override of critical thinking, and isolation from others that leads to belief that it's them vs those that don't know/are "in on it"

Our society's unfathomable cruelty to homeless people is not just morally unjustifiable, but more expensive than housing people would be. Cruelty against the homeless is an unaffordable luxury. Abandoning homeless people to avoid offending the Protestant work ethic is an unaffordable luxury.

The people who fixate on some, often imaginary if not wholly confabulated, distinction between a child dying “with” measles vs “from” measles are people who don’t care that a child died while suffering unnecessarily from an entirely preventable disease. In addition to still being ignorant and wrong.

My feelings summed up. Dolly showed that mill/billionaires can make the choice to be happy, have what they need, and support an almost infinite amount of those in need. Wealth hoarding is a disease that needs to be intervened against when misused, no different than alcohol and driving.
