This. Not to mention that this administration cannot carry out anything without myriad unintended or unconsidered consequences happening. I worry for my patients that will see this on their feeds, or the kids/teens that get access to it. The mental health toll will continue as probably intended.

They’re live-streaming the execution of the person they think they can get away with doing that to first. It’s a test. If they can do that, they’ll expand the margins of permission.

They also (consciously or subconsciously) see themselves as more likely to be the assaulter than the victim so they choose to side with Watson. It's gross and misogynistic. They all deserve the contempt of anyone around them that is female and/or actually cares about the treatment/safety of women.

Abuser enabling behaviors have no place anywhere, let alone on a national sports broadcast. This happened many times last night, and is disgusting. He deserves nothing but contempt for what he did to numerous women.

I'd agree for those that claim "I didn't vote for this," etc, but in Miller's case it appears he's always been the type of person that provokes others with a strong belief that he won't get in trouble for what he did. It's not shortsighted, it's entitlement from never being held accountable.

Miller is more than willing to create terror and threats in the lives of those he deems as "other" but as soon as there is backlash now he needs protection to the point of firing long-term officials. These people really resent the concept of consequences for their actions.

So incredibly tired of the centrist position of "But if we give consequences it could be bad for the country." NO. What was bad for the country was the illegal choices. The consequences make it clear that's not okay and will be punished. Looking at you Jeffries and Schumer.

It exists. I have had a couple clients that have continued to mask because it allows them to better manage their social anxiety due to not feeling so exposed. They prefer that feeling over the potential of others noticing or even asking about why they masked.

They have no social skills based in reality which leads to more feelings of isolation and "discrimination" (negative peer feedback, often warranted) which leads to further entrenchment online. It's a cycle that is very difficult to break.

I have had several late adolescent/early 20s clients who are convinced the world (and especially women) hates them as men based on manosphere grooming from discord/twitch, and now AI chat "girlfriends." They identify as the most discriminated against, and deserve all they want and lust after.

I’ll probably bungle this explanation, so please give me grace. But having kids of my own has solidified my belief, formed when I teaching, that letting your boys be “raised by the internet” is a sure-fire way to raise a dangerous abuser. It’s not a safe place. It’s not entertaining.

It makes me wonder if it's sinking in at all that everything he's done has amounted to nothing as he gets close to the end. No love from his parents or kids, no connection to anyone that matters, and no achievement that won't be gone months after he is. This picture feels like maybe it is.

it's two things, to me: 1) trans rights matter because trans people matter and deserve rights, not just because failing to stand for trans rights is a bellwether for inauthentic progressivism more broadly 2) if you can't be trusted on trans rights you can't be trusted on anything

More othering by a white man whose life will never be impacted by the things he can't stand others have access to. As a therapist working with trans patients, this care is life saving. So tired of people (inadequate feeling whites) having to find small minorities to demean and make life worse for.

Ben Ryan claims GAC shouldn’t be considered life-saving care because (thankfully) completed suicides are so rare studies have not been able to measure reductions in deaths. Nevermind studies consistently show it reduces suicidality and drastically improves mental health and quality of life outcomes.

The Right figured out a long time ago that it was the framing that would matter when Americans stopped reading news. "Pro life," "protecting kids," "right to work," etc. It's all glow up words for horrible policies. Call a sh*t sandwich a patriot excess burger and surely some people will eat it.

If you privatise the profits from fossil fuels, you can’t keep socialising the costs of the damage. Those who’ve profited should pay their fair share of the impacts. That’s why Spain’s push for an EU oil and gas tax to help fund climate adaptation is worth supporting. www.ft.com/content/86da...

In my experience (obv anecdotal), the common denominators don't include access to healthcare, but underlying anxiety, susceptibility to "I know something others don't" override of critical thinking, and isolation from others that leads to belief that it's them vs those that don't know/are "in on it"

Our society's unfathomable cruelty to homeless people is not just morally unjustifiable, but more expensive than housing people would be. Cruelty against the homeless is an unaffordable luxury. Abandoning homeless people to avoid offending the Protestant work ethic is an unaffordable luxury.

Boomers got & continue to get participation trophies just by being born at the right time (cheap house, college paid by 1 summer job, etc) that they loathe anyone not exactly like them getting. They would rather suffer than see some "other" get a benefit. No wonder their kids are no contact.

Fair. I'd suggest that anyone who hoards wealth should be treated similarly to anyone else exhibiting addictive behaviors that cause harm to others with safeguards and consequences when appropriate. I'd also posit we don't get to know others experiences or how it impacted them.

Not sure why you read into what I said that they aren't responsible for their behaviors. Both can be true: people can act out because of things they've experienced, and they shouldn't get to avoid accountability or consequences for that.

Agree to disagree. I genuinely believe anyone that is open to help can find healing and change. Do I think any of these people would actually show up in my office? No. But if they did, I wouldn't turn them away as hopeless.

We are stuck in a timeline where bullied or mistreated adults now feel bullying everyone else with their money and power will make them feel better. And when they don't feel better, they double and triple down rather than accept they are broken and need help.

The people who fixate on some, often imaginary if not wholly confabulated, distinction between a child dying “with” measles vs “from” measles are people who don’t care that a child died while suffering unnecessarily from an entirely preventable disease. In addition to still being ignorant and wrong.

Pure demo of the consequences of "both sides"ing racists, white supremacists, christian nationalists,... They grow more emboldened with the acceptance of their speech and use it to quash the appropriate response to them: telling them they are bad people and need to change to participate in society.
