This should be so obvious that it doesn’t need to be said, but given what kind of weekend it’s been on here, apparently it does: If you don’t want old rapists running the world, in office, in the board room, making decisions for all of us get comfortable with “ruining” young rapists’ lives

The most absolutely massive flex from the state fair exhibit. This quilt is made of 40 years of prize ribbons from various categories at the New Mexico State Fair won by Carol St. Clair Johnson. She also won a prize for this quilt.

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.

I'm glad to see this from the Globe. ICE is leaning into the "secret" part of secret police because they know they are unpopular and they also think that people won't pay attention when their abductions happen away from white people.

ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.

The interesting thing about why Norway dominates at international sports is that they have a culture of not permitting ranking or competition in kids before they turn 12. It promotes cooperation and enjoyment instead. Along with affordable access, it means sports there are more equitable.

Dilley Immigration Center (Texas) continuing horror show exposed by journalist @lidiaterrazas.bsky.social and @msrachelforlittles.bsky.social
msrachelforlittles instagram post with Lidia terrazas

•••
One of the most shocking things I heard when talking to a mom at Dilley
Immigration Detention Center (Texas) is that parents are paying $39 a day for drinkable bottles of water. They give that water to their kids and drink the tap water that makes them sick themselves.
If I understood correctly, babies who need water for formula need a medical note for the bottled water.
I will share more soon. The cruelty is shocking.
