The Labour Party’s women’s conference on 26/9/26 was an embarrassing farce, with only 200 delegates of the 1,000 normal attendance (no major unions) in protest of the Labour Party’s shameful abandonment of trans people following the legally absurd ruling of the Supreme Court in FWS in April 2025.

a good example of this is Co-op City, which is literally the largest housing cooperative in the world. if you're unfamiliar with NYC's politics, you might assume the constituency of this development would be pro-Zohran; but actually, he lost it 75-25 in the primary (and it went 50/50 in the general)

liberals will be like "no man you don't understand Mao is personally responsible for every death under his watch" but then revolt if you apply this logic to the fossil fuel companies and their capitalist ideology that have, in writing, known climate change was going to occur since *at least* 1965-66
On November 5 of that year, as the Keeling Curve continued to steepen, [President Lyndon] Johnson received a report from his science advisory committee. It was called “Restoring the Quality of Our Environment.”

The introduction wasted no time: “Pollutants,” it declared, “have altered on a global scale the carbon dioxide content of the air.” The report went on to say that further increases in carbon dioxide would “almost certainly cause significant changes,” and that they “could be deleterious from the point of view of human beings.” The report’s conclusion, borrowing Revelle’s words from a decade earlier, was unambiguous:

Man is unwittingly conducting a vast geophysical experiment. Within a few generations he is burning the fossil fuels that slowly accumulated in the earth over the past 500 million years. The CO2 produced by this combustion is being injected into the atmosphere;…By the year 2000 the increase in atmospheric CO2…may be sufficient to produce measurable and perhaps marked changes in climate, and will almost certainly cause significant changes in the temperature and other properties of the stratosphere.

Across the industry, fossil fuel producers took this warning seriously. In 1966, the president of Bituminous Coal Research, Inc., issued his own alert in the August issue of the Mining Congress Journal:

There is evidence that the amount of carbon dioxide in the earth’s atmosphere is increasing rapidly as a result of the combustion of fossil fuels. If the future rate of increase continues as it is at the present, it has been predicted that, because the CO2 envelope reduces radiation, the temperature of the earth’s atmosphere will increase and that vast changes in the climates of the earth will result. Such changes in temperature will cause melting of the polar ice caps, which, in turn, would result in the inundation of many coastal cities, including New York and London. The following year, the American Petroleum Institute, the oil and gas industry’s business association, commissioned its own study from the Stanford Research Institute. The SRI was not a partisan think tank (those would come later); their scientists were objective and thorough, and their findings confirmed what the physicist Edward Teller had told the API a decade earlier in New York, only with a level of detail that borrowed heavily from Plass, Revelle, and the White House report. Notable is the authors’ self-awareness: they saw a dangerous irony in focusing on the obvious (urban smog was a major issue at the time) “when the abundant pollutants which we generally ignore because they have little local effect—CO2 and submicron particles—may be the cause of serious world-wide environmental changes.”

The SRI report was entitled “Sources, Abundance, and Fate of Gaseous Atmospheric Pollutants.” There was an oracular quality to a lot of twentieth-century climate science, and “fate” was an apt choice of words. In careful, conservative language, the Stanford scientists said, in sum: levels of atmospheric CO2 and small toxic particulates are rising quickly; their most likely source is the burning of fossil fuels; their cumulative impact on Earth’s climate, and on human and planetary health, is all but certain to be negative and potentially disastrous. “Significant temperature changes,” the report said, “are almost certain to occur by the year 2000.” Their concluding advice to the API was crystal clear: industry needs to make understanding and management of its emissions a priority.

poem
i feel the jagged edges of words unknown
balled up in a cheesecloth i wring and wring
the sludge from my mind seeps through my fingers
as i fossick quickly to divine some meaning,
as elders did to scatological refuse,
to the fractures in bone and shell,
to the rising and falling of distant suns.

the roiling boiling unnerving innervation through
this mass i balance in my hands which prods
with malformed fangs and other monstrous things
that come to me at night, wordless cacophany
crescendoes through my skull, i lay waiting
for, at last, the pop, the crash, the deafening bang
which terminates this well-honed dread.

and in spite of all i've scribbled above
the words which perfectly describe the feelings of
swirling obscurity, opaque in form and meaning,
eludes me like the day eludes the night
in frustration i resign myself to sleep again,
to abandon the cause to whoever wakes in my bed,
and wonder when last it was easy to define "I."

probably a PR blunder but what actions the u.s. calls in non-state actors "terrorism" are legitimized by the very fact that the u.s. is a state actor and thereby not "terrorism." pound-for-pound the u.s. does more *violence* than al-qaeda but what is called terror is malleable for effect.

Republicans don’t have a Nazi problem—they are the Nazi problem
A spate of recent revelations have shown the ideologies and their adherents are one and the same.

Robert Kraft — who's given millions to pro-Israel orgs like AIPAC — once got a $1M award from Netanyahu for helping stop people from boycotting Israel. "Israel does not have a more loyal friend than Robert Kraft," Netanyahu said. Now, Kraft helps kick Macklemore off Ed Sheeran's tour:
Robert Kraft to Establish a Foundation to Combat Anti-Semitism, BDS, Delegitimization of Israel
Jun 20, 2019 at 03:25 PM
June 20, 2019, Jerusalem - Tonight, the Laureate of the 2019 Genesis Prize Robert Kraft was honored at a gala ceremony in Jerusalem. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Genesis Prize Foundation Chairman Stan Polovets bestowed the award on Kraft in front of an audience of 600 Israeli and international dignitaries.
The $1 million Genesis Prize, dubbed "the Jewish Nobel" by Time Magazine, honors extraordinary individuals for outstanding professional achievement, contribution to humanity, and commitment to Jewish values. Previous honorees include U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg; philanthropist and former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg; actor, producer and peace activist Michael Douglas; and "Fiddler to the world" maestro Itzhak Perlman.

Prime Minister Netanyahu said: "I am delighted to welcome Robert Kraft to the august family of Genesis Prize Laureates. This prestigious award honors Robert's generous lifelong philanthropy, his commitment to the Jewish people, and his love for Israel. It also recognizes his principled stand against anti-Semitism and efforts by our enemies to undermine the State of Israel through BDS and other similar campaigns. Israel does not have a more loyal friend than Robert Kraft."
Kraft previously announced he would forgo the $1 million monetary award so that the funds could be granted to initiatives combating anti-Semitism, the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS), and other efforts to delegitimize Israel. This is in line with the tradition established by previous Genesis Prize Laureates, who have "re-gifted" their awards to philanthropic causes they support.
