$i feel the jagged edges of words unknown balled up in a cheesecloth i wring and wring the sludge from my mind seeps through my fingers as i fossick quickly to divine some meaning, as elders did to scatological refuse, to the fractures in bone and shell, to the rising and falling of distant suns. the roiling boiling unnerving innervation through this mass i balance in my hands which prods with malformed fangs and other monstrous things that come to me at night, wordless cacophany crescendoes through my skull, i lay waiting for, at last, the pop, the crash, the deafening bang which terminates this well-honed dread. and in spite of all i've scribbled above the words which perfectly describe the feelings of swirling obscurity, opaque in form and meaning, eludes me like the day eludes the night in frustration i resign myself to sleep again, to abandon the cause to whoever wakes in my bed, and wonder when last it was easy to define "I."$

I've been told this is a good argument

I argue that the constant drive to moderate—the constant drive to disavow our socialist label; the constant itch to refuse to stand for what we believe in because one is afraid of potential, imagined backlash—produces no concrete solutions, or at the very least only produces solutions advantageous to our political opposition. Why else would the press be so interested in how a political figure feels about the state of Israel, or in disparaging the mere idea of critically analyzing national symbols (like Thanksgiving in Francesca Hong’s case)? It’s not to further inform the populace but to, through framing, restrict the ‘acceptable’ answers a candidate can give.

imo it should be required in home ec to learn about the subprime mortgage crisis and how that all happened because then we'd be instilling in our kids the understanding that lenders are ontologically evil.

a paragraph about "predatory inclusion." it reads:
"The wealth that vanished from Black and Latino households did not vanish into thin air. The subprime crisis was deliberately built. Black and Latino borrowers were steered into subprime loans, with their higher rates and crueler terms, at roughly twice the rate of comparable White borrowers, and this held even for borrowers who qualified for ordinary prime credit.
