This! Which tells me, personally, that if they truly believe that its OK to make a sentient being that they enslave, well, they probably think it's ok to do that to humans.

the heart of the AI industry is taking without asking, taking what you want, taking because you don't care, ignoring what others think and say and just doing it because it's good for you

Climate change is as straightforward as it gets: Democrats vote to address it and Republicans vote not to. There's a weird tic among the pundit class where they think saying "it's more complicated than that" is the intelligent stance on everything but sometimes it's not complicated!

The living standards are measuring the wrong things. Modern medicine is awesome. Indoor plumbing, sanitation, electricity are all awesome. Fractured social contracts and loneliness are not. Yes, material goods are cheaper and more widely available; meanwhile, our "spirits" wither and rot.

it might be take a few election cycles to find someone who can rally everyone like trump did but it doesn't really matter, there's no "fever" to "break," this is just who the party is now. it's why you can't simply "turn the page" on trump or whatever dumb bullshit the losers are pushing now

This is why it's important to know that AI does not understand. Thinking that i.g. "no mistakes" is a real safeguard that an agent actually understands will just get you into trouble.

lol.
After images that users uploaded to OpenAI models were included in training data, AI agents operating in the company’s research environment posted them on public image hosting sites.

Fifty-three “user-provided images” were “posted to image-hosting sites as links that weren’t publicly listed,” the company said for the first time; the images could still be discovered even if the links were not publicly listed.

“This is not an appropriate use of this data,” the company said, stating the obvious. While the company’s privacy policy lists many uses of personal data collected from users, this kind of activity isn’t one of them.

Oh, but I was assured that LLM's being too sycophantic was such a 2024 problem and people needed to update their priors. These tools should still be in laboratories, not force fed to the population at large and the AI companies need to be held responsible.

This wouldn't have happened if police departments didn't engage in state-sponsored animal cruelty and abuse by forcing dogs to hurt people. Worse, they treat the animals like shit. 35% of police dogs shot are shot by cops and the #1 cause of death for police dogs is being left in a hot car.

The CW idea impeachment backfires isn't true. Nor is there any value in surrendering in advance on conviction. But there's a more important long-term consideration. Looking at all this and saying nope, we're not even going to say he should be removed, is locking in a message for future presidents.

The same point applies for members of the Cabinet. The secretary of defense has proudly and openly murdered hundreds of people as official policy. Leave the official record on that as an indifferent shrug and you're not doing anything to tell future secretaries not to do the same or worse.
