“The man was taken by ICE agents and his children were left behind…inside the truck”
An extract of the story on SFGATE which reads:

Conches said that a man pulled up to the gas station at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Sunday to fill up his truck. Several cars, including a Ford Explorer and Toyota Tacoma, then surrounded the man. "There were at least six cars. There were a lot of cars," Conches recalled in a video posted by 805 UndocuFund on Instagram.
The man was taken by ICE agents, and his children were left behind.
"They arrested someone," Conches said. "They left the children inside the truck."

graph showing trump net approval on immigration over time, during his first term and now. although he was net positive up to now, he is now net negative (-5) on handling immigration, which is where he was at this point in his first term.

Jake Sullivan: I think it’s wrong to trade one form of energy dependence – from decades past on fossil fuels from the Middle East and elsewhere – for another form of energy dependence to a country like China that has been prepared to weaponize that dependence in other contexts over time. And we saw from Europe’s dependence on Russia with respect to gas, just what that can do at a moment of geopolitical crisis.

Protests in the United States on Palestine and Israel, 2023–2024
Erica Chenoweth,Soha Hammam,Jeremy Pressman &Jay Ulfelder

ABSTRACT
From 7 October 2023 to 7 June 2024, the Crowd Counting Consortium recorded nearly 12,400 pro-Palestine protests and over 2,000 pro-Israel protests in the United States. Since January 2017, when CCC first started counting protest events and their crowd sizes, the current pro-Palestine protest wave involves the largest, most sustained US protests sparked by a foreign event. We hypothesize three possible reasons for the size of the pro-Palestine mobilization: casualties and suffering motivate protestors and the Palestinian casualties have been much higher; protestors react to the US government’s position, which in this case strongly favors Israel; and protestors are driven by emotional outrage at Israeli policy and the resultant Palestinian suffering. By looking at property damage and police injuries, we also conclude that this pro-Palestine movement has not been violent. That is true of both the national protest wave in general and of the student encampments in spring 2024 in particular. The rhetorical core of this pro-Palestine movement has not been a call for violence against Jews, but rather a call for freedom for Palestinians and an end to violence being inflicted upon them. To substantiate this point, we considered two sources of evidence: 1) the banners, signs, and chants seen or heard at pro-Palestine events; 2) the demands issued by organizers of over 100 student encampments. One caveat: Although we use the terms pro-Israel and pro-Palestine as shorthand, we acknowledge that these binary terms are unsatisfying and misleading.

Just to note, in this US-China trade war, China is in the better position, because it is slapping tariffs only on the US. It maintains its relationships with other trading partners, which the US hasn't. Foreign trade is a higher % of GDP in China, but declining. Not good, but worse for us.

With Yoon removed from office today, by my count that makes 34 democratic leaders convicted since 2010. Only one—Trump—faced no real consequences. Trump's actions weren't uncommon. What was exceptional was how our institutions failed to hold him accountable.
A table titled “Convicted World Leaders” with columns: Name, Country, Role, Year, Reason, Status, and Consequence. It lists political leaders from various countries who were convicted of crimes ranging from corruption and bribery to abuse of power and attempted coups. Most rows have a red background, signaling convictions with prison time or bans. One row is highlighted in green and features Donald Trump (USA, President), listed as convicted in 2023 for Jan 6, Corruption, Abuse of Power, Documents, Election Interference, with the consequence noted as No formal ban or sentencing/Granted Immunity.
