Whoa, Mandela Effect in action: Watching 1408 for the first time, and I swear I remember the marketing being about a haunted motel-type room instead of an NYC hotel.

Medication is making my stomach hurt, and my left arm has become a hell of scorching red welts after a gnat got into my shirt sleeve or something. Whoever's torturing a doll of me today can knock it the fuck off.

Omigod, this is the most heartwarming story possible! Backpack (bear 89) is the son of the 2019 winner of Fat Bear Week, Holly (bear 435). In 2007, he injured his foot & a practice of riding on momma's Holly's back had a new meaning: he was mobility-restricted while it healed. So Holly moved him.
From DISCVR blog's Facebook page, a momma bear & a yearling cub on her back in the shallow water. I think the background has been swapped out, and I can't rule out some AI use there? God, Facebook has become the social media for AI slop : (

The title of the article, which I link below, is "How Bear 89 earned the name Backpack"

I *have* heard it a few times while surfing the radio on road trips. It's just kind of a nothing song? Like, I remember the central hook of the title/lyrics being about a guy cheating on the narrator, but I can't recall the tune at all. A lot of country today is like that.

A mystery: this morning there was a shiny empty Bud can on the roof outside my window. Who put it there? Simplest explanation is the next door neighbors hucked it out their window. If true, I hope it doesn't become a habit . . .

Feels like a good time to also point out that a city near you might run Met Live broadcasts. Tickets are pricey as far as movie seats go, but there's no way my broke hayseed ass would've made it to the opera otherwise!

It's the first Big Sweater/Soup for Dinner day of the season, and you better believe I'm ready for it. I just wish I had an old house in the misty forest, in which to contemplate mortality and the passing of time, while I drink barrels of tea.

Been pondering a haunted-house book I'm in the middle of reading. Is there like, a fictional ghost equivalent of "a face that knows what a cell phone is?" Just, the way some of the ghosts in the story are described - it's like you can picture the CGI effects.

Kinda bummed they lead with "rock-inspired" and then immediately walk it back & say it's not a musical. It's a straitlaced British Christian fairytale for babies - fuck it up! Have some actual fun with it! Make it anachronistic, who cares?

Mad at myself for forgetting the author/title of an essay I read way back around the release of "Maleficent." The essay made some great points about how attempts to reclaim fairytale villains often come across like an abusive parent self-justifying their actions.

We’re going to hear about how everyone loved Dolly, and that feels true. But it’s good to remember, and to her credit, that she was attacked for her AIDS activism, her vaccine advocacy, her LGBTQ+ support and even, more recently, for her reading initiatives. She ALWAYS stood firm when it mattered.
