Bluntly, I think/fear that too many people simply don't realise just what a big job it is that the care system is supposed to do. It's expensive, sure, but it's not anywhere close to expensive enough. So much more support is needed for the care system to get even close to meeting the demands on it.

...Also I do not like the BBC framing this as "Sturgeon's". Not one bit. She introduced it, sure, but everybody signed up to it (recent support in Holyrood was unanimous) and it's actually FOR quite a lot of people who genuinely deserve it, not simply a thing with her name on it.

…Quite apart from aesthetic issues, there's also a solid environmental case for simply not demolishing buildings. Can't help thinking it's time we resurrected the slogan of the architects who once campaigned (though nobody listened) to save the original Penn Station in NYC: Polish, don't demolish!

Regarding my previous repost. ...I'm really glad @lornaslater.bsky.social is speaking up for the start-ups in Argyle House. But I also think the architecture is special, too, even if many would disagree. There aren't many buildings like this left in Edinburgh, and they deserve protection.

Favourite place I've seen it is on the slate islands, particularly Easdale Island, home of the Stone Skimming World Championships. To be surrounded by stones so perfect for skimming, and which are also full of tiny gold cubes? Highly recommended, even if the whole shore's whispering 'twat' at you!

This summer three fawn keep making their way out of the Dells under Slateford Bridge to graze downstream of the Centre. Today they were standing in the water, chilling, when they met a class of Sciennes P7s. Great art was made as a result.
