Looks like Dogger Bank B has dropped completely offline as a result of an unplanned transmission issue, currently "under investigation" The wind farm is still under construction and commissioning so not entirely unexpected, though curious nonetheless…

We're pushing 1,500 MW today from the under-construction cluster of wind farms in the North Sea, and they're mostly capped at ~50% capacity for now When complete these three will be outputting at 3,800 MW on a windy day

We've already spent more in 2026 for gas turn-up than all of 2025… In terms of average cost per unit: ⬆️ £137/MWh for turn-up (gas) ⬇️ £38/MWh for turn-down (wind) Turn-down is ~£11/MWh lower this year on average, while turn-up is ~£27/MWh higher, and rising.

Anyone know what the HEA WIND LIFT I jack-up is doing at Dogger Bank A? It's been sitting next to turbine P27 for three weeks now, which was installed with blades nearly a year ago. I've not been able to find anything aside from it being on site according the weekly notices.

£25.3m spent yesterday turning on gas plants to replace wind energy in Scotland that couldn't be used due to grid constraints. A further £3.3m was paid to the wind farms that were turned down. I believe that's a record. NESO weren't lying when they said things would get a worse from September… 😬

Turns out you can extract the rotation of a wind turbine from a single pass of a satellite 🛰️ Each time a Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite passes overhead it actually captures multiple images across different spectral bands.

Claude is usually my go-to but I'm mighty impressed with latest ChatGPT & Codex. Can't put my finger on why but it just feels more accurate and less annoying than Opus, especially with research tasks. If anything Codex is a bit too polite with all the "May I do this?" prompts

Where did the blades go at Dogger Bank A wind farm? From public data it looks like all the 107m-long blades disappear under odd circumstances at two turbines, both linked with incidents in 2024.

The plot thickens with Dogger Bank A… 🤔 This is the movement of the jack-up vessel Voltaire between March 2026 and early August, long after the final turbine was installed at Dogger Bank A (bottom) in February.
