Glasgow's drug consumption room has dealt with 195 medical emergencies since it opened last year. It saves lives. Drug addiction and misuse is a health crisis. We need a major expansion of harm reduction and treatment services, including safe consumption facilities.

@spokes.org.uk I contacted council officers with my concerns about this when it was initially built and wanted to follow up to let you know the response I received.
Good morning

Can I please request that the northbound cycle lane along Forrest Road / Greyfriars Place / George IV Bridge, at the pavement build out which has been inserted at the Greyfriars Bobby statue, is urgently instated with lane defenders

Many thanks, ClaireIn relation to your request for lane defenders to be installed at the pavement build-out by the Greyfriars Bobby statue, a road safety audit was undertaken as part of the works. This identified the need to add additional signage. Although this was not initially in place, the contractor subsequently did install the signage. There was also re-lining undertaken to ensure that a full metre of carriageway was maintained.

Whilst we recognise the importance of scrutinising the measures in place, we are satisfied with the process followed and do not consider it necessary to change the current measure.
