Thanks to @cycloxoxford.bsky.social and all the marshalls for another really fun kidical mass in #Oxford! Fighting for safe streets for kids by cycling through our beautiful city with loads of small kids on bikes - so much fun 🥳🚲💚 #kidicalmass

Nothing here gets delivered on time or to the correct address as it is! Added to the fact that my "local" #Oxford PO (which isn't very local at 1.5 miles away since they closed the others) doesn't have any mobile reception or WiFi so if you need to load anything on your phone it's a disaster.

Wood burning has definitely started again in my area. We had the windows open last night and the house stank of smoke - it was dark so we don’t know who is burning. We need much better public health messaging about this issue so everyone can understand the damage they are doing when they light up!

Car-free streets aren’t empty streets, they are full of life. People walking, cycling, browsing market stalls, sitting outside cafés, chatting and enjoying being in their city. Remove the cars, and you make space for people. 📍Middelburg, NL.

The lights on Redford Road near the Dreghorn Link give safe access to the Dreghorn houses but are difficult for bicycles due to steps. Could the steep step be smoothed out for bicycle access?

In the same area could the Dreghorn Link be provided with a secure cycle lane, there is plenty of room as one lane is hardly ever used.

The footbridge over the Dreghorn Link has been closed for a long time, could this be opened to allow safe access avoiding Redford Road from Bonaly and Colinton in general.

On the way to get some groceries yesterday with my 8yo we passed a friend of mine, also on a cargo bike. I waved hello as we rode by & my kid asked "Who was that?" Me: "My friend, Phil." 8yo: "Why didn't you say more?" Me: "Like what?" 8yo: "Like ask about a play date." Me: "Oh... "

Hate this, also applies to cyclists it seems. Certainly in Oxford anyway. All the street furniture as well ends up taking width from cycle and pedestrian routes (which are generally already squeezed).

Researchers have been asking, why are pedestrian deaths going up, particularly driven by a spike in the dusk period? Well, right now it's 8:30 pm and I'm walking the baby to sleep, and every other driver I have seen is staring at their phone while rolling stop signs. Just a thought.

Driving a car for errands is so stressful. Biking (on protected infrastructure) is not. More Americans should have the ability to decide how to complete each trip w/o car dependency forced on them. 🚲 ❤️

This is obviously bad news for those who have to drive - hauliers, farmers etc. but for private cars, although this mentions a rise in EVs/hybrids, it doesn't say anything about encouraging people to use public transport/active travel. Motornormativity again. www.theguardian.com/money/2026/s...

It's interesting to me that "championing taxpayers" never seems to mean ensuring, like, safe sidewalks with curb cuts; separated bike lanes; funding for the arts & culture & lifestyle stuff that I personally feel should be one of the benefits of living in a society

With bikes, it's easy to stop and enjoy the scenery. It adds enjoyment to life, which is something you can't get with a white knuckle grip on a car steering wheel in high speed urban stroad traffic.

This iconic Fabian Todorovic cartoon is still one of the best I’ve seen at illustrating the remarkable amount of space we surrender to cars, leaving little space left for everyone and everything else. The text added later makes the bonus point that many drivers still manage to complain about it.
Cartoon image of a street with much of the space taken up by a car with a single driver, while the rest of the street has people tightly packed in a bus, a bus shelter and riding bikes in a bike lane. Adding insult to injury, the driver says “damn those bike paths and bike lanes taking all the space.”

City leaders often claim there's no room for better urban infrastructure. But the truth is the space is always there, you just have to look under the cars to find it.

I've just come back from an ~800 mile train trip to Bavaria and all the long-distance trains had a cafe/restaurant, plenty of space for luggage, more generous toilets and family carriages. If we're serious about encouraging train travel in the UK the passenger experience has got to improve. 2/2

I've just bought a hot drink in my own reusable cup from the trolley service on a @gwr.com train and been told they cannot pass the hot drink to the table (about 30cm) without them putting on the lid. This is really ridiculous. I don't know who makes up these rules. 1/2
