Thought leaders are often full of shit. Self-described "thought leaders" are invariably so. I hope the AI is ashamed of itself.
This opinion piece was made in the same way. It began with me speaking an untidy account of what had happened and what it made me think. AI did almost all of the writing. I questioned it, redirected it, removed what was too smooth, restored what mattered and decided what I could stand behind.

The ideas are mine. The expertise is mine. The experience is mine. The responsibility is mine. That does not make AI’s contribution invisible, and it does not make the work of professional writers less valuable.

AI did almost all of the writing. I remain the expert and the thought leader behind the piece. Does that also make me its author? I do not expect everyone to agree. But that is the debate I think we now need.

"Intergenerational fairness is fundamental to a functional society... Government cannot always choose the convenient option of loading additional fiscal burdens on to younger generations". Wise words from the Treasury Select Committee report on student loans committees.parliament.uk/publications...
"Intergenerational fairness is fundamental to maintaining a functional
society. A responsible government would pay close attention to it. Ministers must decide where to spend and cut based, at least partially, on which portions of the population need help or can afford to carry more of the burden. The student loan system is layering stress on to people in their 20s and 30s in a way that did not apply to previous generations. The country needs the younger generation to be the engine room of Britain in the years to come. Although balancing the books today is important, the government cannot always choose the politically convenient option of loading additional fiscal burdens on to younger generations while hoping that young people will not notice the extra weight for decades to come. (Conclusion, Paragraph 30")"
