What was the criteria for core south? (It seems odd to me that Arkansas isn’t included)

BREAKING: The Missouri Supreme Court has placed the redistricting referendum on the ballot. It has also barred the use of the 2025 map in the general election. The 2022 map that almost guarantees Emanuel Cleaver's victory will be in effect. ENORMOUS

Barnes problem was that the party and donors left him for dead, race may have played a part in that unfortunately (though given the rumblings of scandal this year I wonder if people behind the scenes knew back then and didn’t support him for that reason) but it won’t be an issue for Crowley

Ford is the least likely of the three to win (at least according to Sabato, WI is lean dem, GA is tossup, NV is lean GOP) but hopefully all three win

Again, the point at which Democrats needed to burn it all down & stop the authoritarianism in its tracks was December 12, 2000, when the Wizards In Robes decided that people's votes didn't need to be counted. Everything since has been the inevitable outcome of that levee breaking.

Whatever could be said about that claim when he made it in 1962, it soon became undeniable that government vaccine research, distribution, and mandates are objectively among the greatest achievements of civilization. Claiming otherwise is embarrassing, it's like saying you don't wash your hands.

As always: if there's any class of people who do not have due process rights, then *nobody* has due process rights, because the government can just claim someone is in that class and there's no process to establish otherwise.

This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days. ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.

It’s been six months since the killings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Here is how the federal government has stonewalled investigations, and how Minnesota law enforcement is attempting to push for accountability anyway

Six months after she and Alex Pretti were shot on the streets of Minneapolis, little has come of the probes into their killings.

2 more thoughts on birthright: 1. The movement to overturn Roe and Humphrey's Executor was built over decades. It took an enormous amount of effort to manufacture that sense of scholarly viability (see: Teles, Hollis-Brusky). The right got 5-4 on birthright with a sloppy last-minute scramble

The thing you need to understand is that there are 2 (TWO) different method for amending the constitution 1) The process laid out in the constititon itself (conventions, or 2/3's of both houses followed by 3/4 of states ratifying) OR 2) find five votes on the Supreme Court.

The Birthright citizenship ruling should be a wake up call to any Dem who is still on the fence about court reform. We are essentially one seat change away from the Court undoing Reconstruction by fiat.

We are ruled by the Council of Nine. They rule for life & are completely unaccountable. Their agent, the president, is empowered to enact their will but will be placed on a short leash when he displeases them. Congress can raise and appropriate funds the president can use or not to his liking.

In 2010 democrats committed political malpractice by failing to outlaw gerrymandering. In 2022 democrats committed political malpractice by failing to reform the Supreme Court If democrats retake control of the federal government in 2028 the same mistakes cannot be repeated

Obviously it’s good the Supreme Court upheld birthright citizenship but the decision was effectively 5-4 The fact we are one vote away from the destruction of America as we know it isnt exactly heartening.

This is a dangerous pattern with this Court: They find a delegation paired with a constraint, decide they don’t like the constraint, but appear totally untroubled by the idea that Congress delegated the power only *because* prior precedent assured them their constraints would be binding.

When you said entirely correct things like this c.2019 - that 🇺🇸 is not remotely a full democracy, the GOP is a far right authoritarian party, & the Wizards in Robes were akin to 🇮🇷's Guardian Council - people got really angry with you. But you were right. It's good more people are recognizing this.

State legislatures? Gerrymandered. The House? Gerrymandered. The Senate? Malapportioned. The presidency? Malapportioned. The courts? Largely beyond any kind of popular control. Governorships are still okay, I guess, but that's it. And now we're extinguishing black representation again

NEW: Virginia Dems have unveiled their proposed 10-1 congressional map in response to GOP gerrymanders in other states. It targets 4 Republicans & has 10 Harris seats. It will be used in 2026 contingent upon an April 21 voter referendum. Interactive map+data: davesredistricting.org/join/20e0049...
Image of a Virginia Democrats' proposed congressional map that is drawn to elect a ten-to-one Democratic majority and flip four Republican seats in 2026. The district lines are displayed over top of a basemap with major roads and cities labeled. The districts are colored by the 2024 presidential winner's margin of victory, with Kamala Harris districts in blue and Donald Trump districts in red. Darker shades represent larger margins of victory. An embedded chart shows the 2024 presidential election results and the adult population racial demographics in each district.

Kamala Harris won 10 of the 11 districts, while Black voters would retain their ability to elect their preferred candidates in Districts 3 and 4, which remain safely Democratic.
