The chief justice used to preside over a Supreme Court whose members were afforded more privacy and freedom than many other public officials. Once, years ago, Mr. Lipson and the chief justice found themselves up the peninsula from Port Clyde without a car, Mr. Lipson recalled in an interview. So he stuck out his thumb by the side of the road and a pickup truck pulled over. He and the nation’s top jurist hopped in the back and hitchhiked back to town.

Now, Mr. Lipson said, he is cautious about introducing his friend to strangers. This year, on an outing to nearby Monhegan Island, people recognized the chief justice as he walked by a brewery and started to chant: You should be ashamed.

With respect to the Cornell 7, among other things, I feel like at some point we gotta address that this school has an 8% acceptance rate. These are supposed to be the best and brightest. So either the admissions process for elite schools is broken or our best and brightest are rapists.

Little Nemo in Slumberland by Winsor McCay from July 19, 1908.

In this installment, Nemo’s mother sends him to take a walk in the garden. As he goes, he is met by Flip, who joins him on his walk. When they first arrive, the garden has barely begun to grow, but as the strip proceeds, the various vegetation grows quickly, eventually passing them in size. There are giant raspberries & blackberries. It keeps growing and Nemo and Flip start climbing the plants like trees. It ends as usual with Nemo falling out of bed and waking up.

Worst movie I have watched in a theater? I may ultimately have seen worse but when I saw Rocky 4 as an 8th grader I realized that I was drifting apart from the flock. Despite growing up a hawk and even a fan of Reagan I was just not buying the anti-Soviet propaganda they were slinging.
