This is pretty fucking wild. I had assumed in a worst case scenario he would target blue zip codes and toss ballots based on technicalities but this is even worse than I imagined.
Not only is this system astonishingly untested, USPS has simultaneously implemented an
impracticable zero percent failure rate.
13 When ballots are submitted to USPS in large-volume
batches, if any one ballot in the batch cannot be verified against the Portal, all ballots in that
batch will be rejected. For example, if a state election official brings a batch of 10,000 ballots to
USPS and USPS is unable to match just one of those ballots against the Portal – because, for
example, someone has recently changed their name after marriage or they’ve moved – then
USPS would refuse to mail the remaining 9,999 ballots as well. As the whistleblower notes,

Pictured are the two most flawed paragraphs in Callais. SCOTUS declares that *it*—and not Congress—gets to decide what legislation is "appropriate" under the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments. Which is how we come to today's SCOTUS majority blessing racist gerrymanders bc the VRA is "colorblind."
Not only is this the best reading of the statutory text, but it also ensures that §2 of the Voting Rights Act does not exceed Congress’s authority under §2 of the Fifteenth Amendment. That provision confers the “power to enforce [the Amendment] by appropriate legislation.” Thus, to lie within Congress’s authority, §2 of the Voting Rights Act must “effectuate by ‘appropriate’ measures the constitutional prohibition” in §1 of the Fifteenth Amendment. Katzenbach, 383 U. S., at 308. Our Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendment jurisprudence delineates what constitutes “appropriate” legislation in the sense relevant here. See City of Boerne v. Flores, 521 U. S. 507, 518 (1997) (stating that Congress has “parallel power to enforce the provisions” of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Amendments). In legislation enforcing these Amendments,

Max Weber, Politics as a Vocation:
Politics is a strong and slow boring of hard boards. It takes both
passion and perspective. Certainly all historical experience confirms
the truth—that man would not have attained the possible unless time
and again he had reached out for the impossible. But to do that a
man must be a leader, and not only a leader but a hero as well, in a
very sober sense of the word. And even those who are neither leaders nor heroes must arm themselves with that steadfastness of heart
which can brave even the crumbling of all hopes. This is necessary
right now, or else men will not be able to attain even that which is
possible today. Only he has the calling for politics who is sure that
he shall not crumble when the world from his point of view is too
stupid or too base for what he wants to offer. Only he who in the
face of all this can say ‘In spite of all!’ has the calling for politics.

New memo by Trump's 36-year-old OLC chief, Elliot Gaiser, says Congress's Constitutional power to make laws necessary and proper to regulate how the U.S. government works is actually just a power to "assist" the president--so laws are valid if they increase Trump's power but not if they restrict it.

Adam Kotsko:
The question about Trump’s trajectory all along has been how he kept the scam going. He can’t code-switch or self-censor. Everyone who encounters him knows exactly who he is, immediately. The answer, I believe, is that he uses his manifest incapacity as a kind of superpower. Everyone who enters into business with him and sees his gleeful desire to cheat and steal and defraud thinks to themselves, “I can use this.” They don’t realize that he is too impulsive to be durably manipulable and that he has elevated betrayal into a perverse Kantian maxim. Everyone, everyone who joins forces with him loses, but everyone equally thinks that they are the ones who have seen through the ruse and can use him “as a tool,” to use a popular current-day phrase. The fact that they are obviously—even definitionally—smarter than him blinds them, makes them stupider than the stupidest man alive.
