This made me smile, attached to an ordinary cast iron drainpipe on a house in Durham. #TinyJoys
A cast iron drain pipe going down the side of a white-painted house. A crest of red feathers and a bright orange beak made from something solid have been attached around it. It looks remarkably like "Feathers McGraw", the evil criminal penguin from The Wrong Trousers.

This is a perfect example of drawing a cartoon you think is funny, but nobody else does. It’s a tough life being a cartoonist. Especially if you’re a bit rubbish at it!

I drew the cover for the latest @newyorker.com More here: www.newyorker.com/culture/cover-story/cover-story-2026-06-29

The New Yorker dated 29 June 2026 titled ‘Landscape portrait’. The cover is almost completely filled with a large classic painting in a gold frame. It shows a landscape with hills, rocks and trees. A horse and rider stand on a rocky outcrop overlooking a plain that stretches out to the sea. In the bottom left corner of the cover, a smiling tourist takes a selfie with the painting behind him.

This painting is titled "Big Step II" and is part of the "Fractured Light" series by contemporary artist Michele Poirier-Mozzone. The piece captures a dynamic, low-angle perspective of a figure in a red swimsuit stepping through water. It is known for its impressionistic style.
Perspective: A unique "under-the-surface" viewpoint looking up toward the sky.
Technique: Bold, visible brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette that emphasizes the distortion of light through moving water.
Medium: While the artist often works with oil on panel, she is also highly regarded for her work in soft pastel, which she uses to achieve these luminous, layered effects.

Today’s poem is called ‘Billionaire in a Midlife Crisis’.
Billionaire in a Midlife Crisis

He’s swapped designer jeans and flashy cars
For designer spacesuits and trips to Mars
Where he watches Earth turn on its axis
With its stupid people paying taxes
He’s indulging all his whims and vices
He’s a billionaire in a midlife crisis

He’s got plans to end world poverty
Once his new hair’s lost its novelty
He’s dropping rap tracks and dissing pronouns
His kids have names they cannot pronounce
He’s choosing who his next young wife is
He’s a billionaire in a midlife crisis

He’s an outspoken champion of free speech
With a mute button in easy reach
He’s building an army of online abusers
More spambots equals more X-users
Cause he’s been left too long to his own devices
If truth be told, he’s not the nicest
I hope he comes down with gastroenteritis
He’s a billionaire in a midlife crisis
