Handheld MiSTer testing has gone well this week. 2 x 21700 Battery cells and life is looking around 10 to 11 hours on the PlayStation Core. The Gameboy is looking like 12 Hours. Zaparoo front end is looking really good too.

Thanks to everyone who came down to the @retrocollective.co.uk sale day yesterday - it was great to see everyone and so good to send some of my collection off to good homes. It was priced to sell and sell it did - very rapidly! Just one small box to take home. (Never mind the Amstrad...)

The butchering of id software, in the midst of a brilliant comeback for the studio over the last 10 years, feels like a punch to the gut. I don't see how they can recover from this. After 35 years, id software is effectively gone. Can't believe it.

Time to trot out my IT Crowd Oric Atmos again! It's been a while... This actual computer was used as a prop on the shelf behind Richard Ayoade's character "Moss" from mid-series 2 onwards. [I feel it's important to point out that I picked this up long before all the Linehan stuff kicked off 🤦]

Unlike previous Atari products that usually had their codenames after women, the Ataritel product codenames were all after birds - Falcon, Eagle, Pudgy, Parrot A marketing campaign is launched with the Ataritel name covered under a tarp; there would be so much more revealed when the wraps came off…

The really big public awareness of videophones would come at the 1964 World's Faire in New York where demonstrations between New York and Washington DC were shown

The C64U took existing commodore enthusiast products, packaged them together, provided QA and support, and offered it for less money than it would cost for an end use to assemble. This is just about the opposite. Taking a Chinese dumb phone, customising it a bit, and adding a markup.

This seems expensive for what it is, the video is full of AI slop, and even Perifractic himself sounds completely disinterested in the voiceover. I know it's popular to hate on this and I don't want to just jump on the bandwagon, but it's certainly no C64 Ultimate - which is a fantastic product.

We're moving Super Mario Bros. to an agentic workflow. Rather than controlling Mario, you'll simply prompt the agent with something like "beat 1-1", and it will take direct control of Mario for you. This frees up more time for more important things like doing your taxes or being stuck in traffic
