A quick reminder, the President of Ethiopia, Ahmed Abiy, won the Nobel prize in 2019 largely on the strength of negotiating peace with Eritrea. Since then he has brought them in as a partner to beat his Tigrayan rebels and now looks like he might be fighting them again.

A fullly-illustrated hex-map for a #Cataphract game. I was given free rein to add all sorts of weird points-of-interest throughout the map, so we've got all sorts of weird ruins, caves, giant birds, monster habitats, colossal fertility statues, and oversized vegetables.
An illustrated map of a fantasy land, designed as a "hex-crawl" map. It features a wide variety of detailed locations. The only label on the map is in the bottom right corner, reading "Zwijger."

It was never going to work the way they envisioned. Too many false assumptions and a complete disregard for what Trump really wanted to do. And here we are.

Nick Timiraos

@NickTimiraos

In the early days of Trump's second term, his economic advisers laid out a simple theory: Show the bond market that Washington was serious about closing its gaping deficits and long-term interest rates would fall on their own. Trump could leave the Fed alone.

It hasn't worked out that way.

The White House theory rested on fiscal restraint that never arrived and overlooked how much of Trump's own agenda would feed the price pressures now pushing rates higher. Tariffs raised the cost of imported goods. The war with Iran sent oil and diesel prices soaring.

Inverting Feminism

SlutCon's vision
paints women into a corner in having an ethos that is an inversion of
feminism. In Aella's own words:

Most women don't know what they want
and if they do they are pretty bad at and so their sexual advice tends to be ineffective at best and actively
communicating it, damaging at worst.

Heavy focus on safety and deference are there for good reasons
and they need to be
respected, but often are
deeply unsexy, no matter how much people insist otherwise.

Academia and the military have had to face up to this- that creating "social" spaces that feature blurring of power dynamics, sex, and access that are intrinsically interwoven with professional relationships is abusive and predatory. For smart people to say they don't understand it is disingenuous.
