I deleted my original post because @hfxgov.bsky.social reported 20 fatal collisions not deaths. @visionzerokh.bsky.social has also updated their post url here: visionzerohfx.ghost.io/twenty-fatal...

Twenty fatal collisions on our streets in 2025 is not 'favourable' progress
If zero means zero, then the most important number in the 2026 Road Safety Annual Report is twenty. At least twenty people died on HRM roads in 2025. Everything else is secondary.

Join us on Sunday, August 9th, at 1pm, for a Gaza Sunbirds solidarity ride in tribute to Dr. Nouman Ali. Dr. Nouman was an avid cyclist, professor, anda respected and loved supporter of many social justice causes, including our Gaza Sunbirds solidarity rides. Dr. Nouman Ali sadly lost his life in a cycling accident caused by a truck driver. This incident highlights the dangers that cyclists face on the road and the work our city can do to make our roads safer for all. We want to remember Dr. Nouman at our upcoming Gaza Sunbirds ride, an event he very much loved and championed as it combined his love for cycling and his long standing solidarity and support for Palestine. Gaza Sunbirds rides are held all over the world in solidarity with a group of amputees from Gaza who decided not to let the opression they live under hold them back from thriving. Their mission is now a global movement that many around the world enjoy and support. Route TBD but, as usual, we'll keep it flat, moderately paced, all wheels welcome bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, skateboards, and more
