The photo for this story says it all. A busy commercial area in St. John’s with big box stores, restaurants, banks, transit, and very few crosswalks for pedestrians to cross the 5 lane road is getting a safety upgrade with new crosswalks thanks to federal funding.

And it isn't just the crossings that are missing. The sidewalks (this one on Bloor at Green Lane) is so narrow that a wheelchair or baby stroller can barely pass around the pole!
Wheelchair barely fits on the sidewalk where a pole interferes with movement ... and safety.

Saturday's IslingtonVillage Jane's Walk. What about travel delays for people on foot, bikes, mobility devices? Connections across fences, tracks .. would shorten times, but ZERO of 6 "potential crossings" ID'ed in 2010 SecondryPlan implemented! Access thru fence, would cut 10mins from walk to Bloor!
