I just noticed tonight, at least at about 8:30pm, that the Almon St. intersection with Connaught coming down the hill, is using detection again to skip lights in the Almon St. and it still doesn't' detect bikes. Want to cause a disruption while being perfectly legal?

Sitting at the armview watching the round about and thinking, it is crazy that the legal way to navigate it on a bike, is going around with all the cars, but the illegal way to navigate it is on the sidewalk. The legal way is far more likely to get you killed, and the safer way is illegal.

Wow does this resonate with me. I haven't done nearly as much organizing and protesting, but we try, cargo ebikes and heat pumps. Looking forwad to soon, hopefully, paying for 100%, renewable wind electricity. But it's not enough. Those with money and power are completely undoing this little effort.

Houston: "In fact, we can be an energy superpower just from our natural gas. There’s absolutely nothing that should hold us back". What an idiot. Does he not get the climate crisis? I guess not, happy to let our climate become more extreme, so long as we are an energy superpower, screw our children.

Drill baby drill leads to burn baby burn. The root of the problem is not complicated. We humans must reduce our GHG emissions if we want a livable planet. I heard John Vaillant speak during my FCM trip to Edmonton at an Elbows Up for Climate event. Facing climate reality is not political. 💔

There’s a quiet culture change happening in Halifax. I think it’s most obvious at #KidicalMassHfx, where you can see “all the cool bikes,” but it’s also evident on an average Sunday afternoon at the pool. The culture of family cycling and cargo bikes is growing steadily and it’s wonderful to see!
Various bikes and cargo bikes, including a frontloading cargo bike and a longtail parked at bike racks next to a splash pad on the Halifax Commons. A group of bikes and cargo bikes, including a longtail, a frontloading cargo bike & a cargo trike at bike racks next to the skate park under redevelopment on the Halifax Commons. The trike has a sign advertising Kidical Mass Halifax. A midtail cargo bike has a sign on the back that says “bike good mayor bad”Close up of the front rack of an Aventon Abound longtail cargo bike.
