write this in 1k lines of rust? why reinvent the wheel? nvidia tubu already exists. it integrates with heebee-x and poodee-jit. they evaluated tubu with cuDippy in a paper recently. NVweeno and heebee-gumpy implement the same thing but depend on each other for some reason. have you tried gumpy?

AI: virtually no subject provokes such vitriol in my communities. I can grant the haters many of its harms, but their solutions leave much to be desired. I fear for the future even as I wonder at the future we are living. And so, dear hater, I must write: shaping.systems/blog/ai-suck...

It's disappointing to see this framing from @404media.co . The implication that @proton.me did something wrong suggests that activists would be safe if only they used a different service. Instead of educating the public on proper opsec: Proton is part of it, but use VPN, pay with cash in envelope.

This is irresponsible framing. The words "helped" and "provided" imply that Proton did this voluntarily, but they were required under Swiss law. I don't hear any information to indicate that they could have done anything differently. You should clarify this. You're misrepresenting.

People desperately want a solution to high housing prices that does not require building new homes in their neighborhoods. No such solution exists. If we want lower rents and home prices, we need to build more homes in the places people want to live. Anyone who says otherwise is bullshitting you.

The Netherlands banned investor ownership of housing in 2022. It did not reduce home prices. New homeowners had higher incomes, were more often Dutch-born, moved shorter distances, and stayed longer than the renters whom they replaces. I do not think this was an equitable outcome.
Buy-to-Live vs. Buy-to-Let: Homeownership and Residential Sorting in Housing Markets

Date Written: July 11, 2025

Abstract

How does homeownership affect local housing markets and neighborhood composition? Exploiting the Netherlands' 2022 buy-to-let ban, which prevents investors from buying homes to rent out, we find the policy significantly reduces investor purchases and increases owner-occupancy. Despite removing investor demand, the ban does not negatively impact prices or transaction volumes as neighborhoods become more desirable to owner-occupiers. This desirability emerges through residential sorting: New homeowners have higher incomes, are more often Dutch-born, move shorter distances, and stay longer than the renters whom they replace. Thus, promoting homeownership may improve neighborhood quality but reduce mobility and housing opportunities for low-income renters.

Keywords: investors, house prices, rents, neighborhoods, gentrification

Game devs, I am once again asking you to add keyboard only input as an option to your games. If you can support navigating menus with a controller, you can support keyboard. Arrow keys and enter instead of D-pad and A. Simple enough. And for my disability and many others, it's the best way to play.

Interesting! It looks like all the bots that bother to set a legitimate-looking user agent and then trip up on my honeypot links are "running" Mobile Safari---given my expected audience, I wonder if I could blanket assume everyone advertising that UA is a bot
A dark mode analytics page showing a bot detection dashboard with summary metrics (11,656 total reports, 17 usable reports, 202 jailed bots) and a breakdown with:
* Detection Time: 47.1% in 10-30 minutes, 29.4% in 30-60 minutes, 23.5% in 1-2 hours.
* Browsers: 100% Mobile Safari, 0% various other browsers.
* Systems: 100% iOS, 0% various other operating systems.
* Countries: 64.7% USA, 17.6% Japan, 11.8% South Korea, 5.9% Germany

I like looking at my website's access logs. There's currently no content on it so it's all bots, and it's a bit like looking at a zoo (or xkcd.com/350/). There is one persistent bot that users the literal string `{USER_AGENT}` as its user agent, which I find cute in a "groot" sort of way
