New: Macklemore says Robert Kraft — who owns Gillette Stadium, where Macklemore & Ed Sheeran were to perform later this month — called Sheeran. Kraft rallied other owners together behind an ultimatum for Sheeran: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you won't be allowed in our venues.

I'm not sure how to start this. So I'm going to speak from the heart and share the truth. Ed Sheeran and his team have made the decision to remove me from The Loop tour.
But before I get into it, I want to say something that should be obvious. In this moment I think it matters. I am not a victim. Ed Sheeran is not a victim. Pink is not a victim. We have careers, money, opportunities, safety and audiences around the world. Whatever consequences any of us face for what we say, we get to go home to our families.

The victims are the Palestinian people. The men, women and children who have been killed, starved, displaced and forced to live through unimaginable violence. More than 20,000 children have been killed in Gaza alone. People are being killed today, and people will be killed tomorrow. I want to make sure that as I tell this story, we don't lose sight of that.

Ed is my friend. I've known him for 13 years. We've shared late nights, studio sessions and stages. He has this infectious magic about him that I've grown to love. I consider him a brother. And because of that, we've had some difficult conversations this past week. The type of talks rooted in love and respect for one another that still end in a place of fundamental disagreement. Nothing I'm writing here is out of spite or because I want to tear down his character. But as I told Ed multiple times on the phone, our friendship can't change my responsibility to tell the truth about what happened.

Last Monday, in the middle of all the media attention surrounding Pink and what I said at MetLife, Ed told me that Robert Kraft called him. We were scheduled to play Gillette Stadium later this month, which is owned by the Kraft Group. Ed told me that Kraft said I would not be allowed to perform in his stadium. Ed also told me that Kraft had rallied some of the other
stadium owners and collectively they gave him an ultimatum: if Macklemore stays on the tour, you will not be allowed to play in our venues.

Ed was in …What I said at MetLife I have been saying on stages around the world for almost three years. So why is it an issue now? Because now I'm sharing a stage with one of the biggest artists in the world, in some of the biggest stadiums in America. At a certain level of exposure, "Free Palestine" becomes too much of a risk. If I kept doing the shows, saying Free Palestine, with Ed implicitly supporting it, the crowd getting loud and showing undeniable support for Palestinian liberation, what artist might speak out next? The stage becomes resistance. Maybe that's why this time it became so important to silence me.

And one of the most effective ways to enforce that silence has been to weaponize the accusation of antisemitism. Antisemitism is real. And that is exactly why the word matters too much to be used as a shield against criticism of the Israeli state. When criticizing Israel, opposing Zionism or saying "Free Palestine" gets conflated with hatred of Jewish people, it doesn't protect Jewish people. It protects Israel from accountability.

I hope this isn't the end of my relationship with Ed.
Thirteen years of friendship doesn't disappear because of one painful disagreement. I hope we both continue listening, studying what is happening in Palestine and wrestling with what neutrality means in a moment like this. My door will always be open to continuing that conversation.

When my brother Omar was doing the subtitles for the video I posted from MetLife, I thanked him. He told me there's a phrase in Arabic:
لا شكر على واجب
"La shukra ala wajeb." There is no thanks for a duty.
That stayed with me. Because that's what this has become for me and millions of others around the world. A duty. Not something deserving of praise or gratitude. Not brave. Human.

Who is winning the internet, who is getting canceled, who gets to play the stadium and who doesn't, all of it becomes so small when held against what we are actually witnessing in Gaza and the West Bank. An entire people be…

It's Oliver's 5th gotcha day! The only thing I regretted about deleting my Twitter was losing Oliver's origin thread. But I took screenshots! If you'd like to see some highlights of how he joined our family (some of you saw this in real-time), buckle up - it's going to be a long thread! /1
Over is an eight-year-old part Siamese cat and has super soft medium length fur and blue eyes. He’s various shades of gray with white pays, chest, and tummy. He’s currently a couple of pounds overweight but doesn’t seem bothered by this. He’s a round boy.

Tweet text, Aug 28, 2021: I first say this little dude during the heat wave in June hunting on our property, then again last week. Today I made contact. He’s very sweet and I already love him a little bit. I posted his pic on our local FB group to see if he has a home.

Tweet pics: 4 pictures of a very skinny Oliver (ha!). Upper left is a close-up of his face, ¾ visible. Upper right is a pic mid-bath with a back leg extended. Lower left is also mid bath with back leg up. Lower right is taken from above and he’s standing looking especially thin.

Illustration of Dana (a pale, dark haired female elf) with a tiny opossum Malik on her shoulder, a black raven flying next to the two.
She's smirking, light reflected in her eyes. The scene is illuminated like in flash photography
Dana is wearing a white shirt with red trimmings, sleeves pulled up showing red tattoos on her forearms, brown pants, two leather belts with gold details and a matching bracelet with a big red gem.
She's leaning on a tree, the background behind her is a dark dead forest. The There's a decorative border around the background, in the style of her tattoos. dark urge tiefling Niamh is holding a tray of bloody skulls. her gaze is blank, distant, her eyes bloodshot white - something's not quite right.

behind her is a dark eclipse and bhaal's teardrop halo frames her facemy dark urge tiefling Niamh in the style of Hades 2. she's wearing regal bhaalist clothing inspired by the game's aesthetic, lots of reds and whites with gold trims and skull decor. she's smirking, holding a dagger, long hair and cloak flowing in the wind

Kimono and geta. Japan
Poised atop two tall wooden teeth (ha), a passerby steps lightly across a paved stone thoroughfare, capturing a captivating glimpse of formal Japanese dress in motion. The footwear consists of pristine paulownia-wood clogs (kiri-geta), their pale, untreated grain anchored by a cushioned thong (hanao) in brilliant scarlet and white over crisp, split-toed tabi socks. Above the clogs, the heavy, padded hem (fuki) of a black silk formal kimono sweeps upward with the stride. The outer garment features rich yūzen dye work portraying opulent, blooming peonies (botan) in shades of saffron, orange, and white, alongside a gilded Heian carriage wheel (goshoguruma). As the black silk lifts, it reveals a fiery vermilion underlayer (nagajuban) delicately outlined with golden floral scrollwork.

The combination of motifs reflects a deeply stratified visual tradition. The carriage wheel (goshoguruma) recalls the ox-drawn carriages of the Heian court nobility, a classic emblem of miyabi (courtly refinement) that gained widespread popularity in Edo and Meiji-era textile design. Paired with the peony—traditionally revered as the "king of flowers" symbolizing wealth, honor, and vitality—the ensemble communicates a high ceremonial register, typical of formal furisode or celebratory attire worn during major rites of passage. Furthermore, the selection of lightweight paulownia wood for the geta showcases functional craft: kiri wood is naturally moisture-resistant and light on the foot, allowing the wearer to maintain an upright, gliding posture while elevating the delicate silk trailing edges far above the damp stone road.

Vaguely based on but much less good than Matisse's 'The Dance' painting which was probably on a greeting card your aunt gave you once. After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.

Happy Labor Day! Today we're bringing you The First Union, as told by HBomberguy (@hbomberguy.bsky.social) and illustrated by Skutch (@skutchdraws.bsky.social) It's the dawn of the industrial revolution, and of the way many of us work... Have you ever heard of the term "Luddite" from an elder?
Stanhill, Lancashire, 1764. Wear and carpenter James Hargreaves invents the Spinning Jenny, the first practical spinning-frame, to make the tedious task of producing cloth a little bit faster. He doesn't know it yet, but this will destroy the world.

Spurred by inventions like his, the industrial revolution will transform everything -- work power, the wealth of nations. Society as we know it began here, and it wasn't great for everyone. But a group of weavers and textile workers saw this future coming. And did their best to prevent it."Curse you spinning jenny, you ruined everything!" The standard narrative does that LUDDITES were foolish lunatics who, in fear of technology, decided progress was bad, and started hitting it with sticks. But the truth is entire ways of life were being destroyed.

Previously, skilled craftsmen were respected for the time and effort it took to do their work. The entire family usit would form a cottage industry - creating something valuable, and command a decent living. But when a machine can work 10 times faster its owner can charge less for the prodcts- craftsmen couldn't compete and were left out of work almost overnight.

And as factories became a fixture of the british landscape, these now unemployed labourers often ended up working the factories that had just destroyed their way of life. Britain was the most prosperous nation in history, factory owners became extremely wealthy and influential. But the people doing the actual work saw almost none of it.
Factory work paid little, since "the machines" did "the real work" human labourers were deemed unimportant and replaceable. FUN FACT!: Factory owners preferred to hire ORPHANS since less people would notice if they were maimed or killed on the job!

Now the owners quickly realized the workers might notice they did all the work for almost no pay. If they went on STRIKE or ARGUED FOR HGHER WAGES, this would threaten their tremendous wealth. In 1799, Parliament passed the Combination Act, which made FORMING TRADE UNIONS, COLLECTIVE BARGAINING, AND GOING ON STRIKE ILLEGAL. Organizing against the rich became a crime. If you were living through it, opposing the industrial revolution wasn't techno-phobia. It was SELF-DEFENSE. The combination act forced unions underground into secret societies. And the greatest secret of all was their leader - Ned Ludd. Ned had been a folk character for years. In one version after being whipped by his master, he smashed two knitting frames in a rage. In more fanciful versions, he then escaped to the Sherwood forest, here he lived among the animals as their king. Some versions specifically call him 'Much Better Than Robin Hood'.

19th century woodblock print [and details] by Hiroshige Utagawa “One Hundred Famous Views of Edo, Scenery of Monkey Waka Town”. “The place is Saruwakacho. It is located in Asakusa 6-chome, Taito-ku, Tokyo, northeast of Sensoji Temple. “ Text and images via Ota Museum.
Titled Saruwakachō yoru no kei ("Night View of Saruwakachō"), the print captures the famous entertainment district in Asakusa under a deep Prussian blue sky (bero-ai). Along both sides of the street stand the grand wooden facades of Edo’s licensed Kabuki theaters, punctuated by the distinctive lookout towers (yagura) perched atop their roofs. Strolling along the broad thoroughfare, figures carrying paper lanterns (chōchin) and clad in head-cloths (zukin) cast crisp, elongated shadows onto the pale earth—a groundbreaking visual effect in traditional ukiyo-e.

The creation of Saruwakachō—located in present-day Taitō Ward, northeast of Sensō-ji Temple—was born from the strict puritanical decrees of the Tenpō Reforms (1841–1843). Seeking to curb moral indulgence and mitigate fire hazards in the city center, the Tokugawa shogunate forcibly relocated Edo’s three officially licensed Kabuki troupes (Edo Sanza: the Nakamura-za, Ichimura-za, and Morita-za) to this dedicated northern enclave, named in honor of the theater founder Saruwaka Kanzaburō. Rather than dimming the city’s passion for the stage, Saruwakachō flourished into a self-contained world of fantasy, lined with theatrical teahouses (shibai-chaya) and merchant stalls that hummed with life long after the final curtain fell.

Aesthetically, the print is a tranquil meditation on yūgen—that subtle, mysterious grace that descends when a realm usually defined by noise, spectacle, and heightened emotion falls silent. Hiroshige’s inclusion of cast shadows, an innovation influenced by European perspective and light studies, imparts a dreamlike, suspended stillness to the urban landscape.

Finally drew a full-body illustration of Yrni, and also worked out a bit more lore for the venom in his venomous fins. OC art really makes me wish I knew how to do graphic design… 😭 #oc #fantasy #merfolk
