Found the email I sent when I got accidentally added to the faculty listserv of an orthopedic surgery clinic and nobody would remove me so I sent this email to all faculty/staff/med students and they removed me almost immediately
Hello Bone Colleagues,
I have invented a new type of ankle and I'm very excited to show it to you. Early raccoon trials suggest a 60% increase in scurrying speed and dramatic increases in fine motor banditry. I know we are not supposed to create super raccoons, but I think you'll change your mind and professional ethics when you see how cute they are. I believe we are on the cusp of a new era in advanced human scurrying because if medical science has taught me anything, it's that improvements in raccoons correspond 1:1 to improvements in humans.

Tom is my current representative. He's refused to hold a town hall for 2 years. He holds photo ops at businesses because he represents them. He claims he's a brave military man, but he called the police when someone wrote a message in chalk in front of his office. He also gargles orange balls.

These people cannot be trusted to vote in their best interests. Ever. They have failed at the most simple task and have driven this country to ruin. They are too stupid to be allowed to have a say in the future of the country. Convince a non-voter to vote. There are LOTS of those.

October's fossil of the month isn't just one fossil but a whole host of ammonites preserved against a chunk of fossilised driftwood from the Jurassic seafloor, 190 million years ago! Found by preparator and collector Craig Chivers in February 2024 after some stormy weather. #FossilFriday #paleosky

Geoff Shepard, a former Nixon aide turned Watergate historian and revisionist, recently gave a two-hour presentation at Justice Department headquarters that laid out his theory that the deep state took Nixon down. The title of his 78-page slide deck: “Watergate As Lawfare.”

We names the #Ediacaran #Edrathina obditchia from #InnerMeadow after we had decided it was a stem ctenophore. Ctenophores are also known as comb-jellies. Following recent convention we have used Beothuk words for naming. Edrathin means comb & Obditch means beast. So the name means “comb beast”
view looking into the triangular/collapsed cone calyx of Edrathina with the tentacles oriented towards you and the holdfast disc found at the top right. the tentacles have numerous pinnules arising from them and can be seen to arise from the margin of the calyx.

Happy #FossilFriday! The Ediacaran of #Newfoundland is famous for its animal fossils. The most iconic are the muscular #Staurozoa #Haootia and #Mamsetia and I think our new 551Ma #Edrathina is probably comparably important , being the oldest relative of comb-jellies, another early animal group.
retrodeformed holotype of Edrathina see strain ellipse branches arise from margin of a calyx which is triangular in shape
interpreted as being a relative of the Ctenophores, the similarly shaped stem-ctenophores like Siphosauctum and Dinomischus Holotype of Haootia quadriformis linesr features are interpreted as muscle fibres. It has been interpreted as a crown group Cnidarian comparable to the modern Staurozoa
note the tetra-radial form characteristic of that group

No one believes impeachment will work in 2027-28. But if Dems aren't even going to try, how are they going to have the will to adopt the institutional reform agenda (👇) we're going to need to become a real democracy? Again, just winning elections forever is not a strategy. It's delusional in 2026.

We simply are not going to get out of this by just winning the next election & going back to governing. We can't keep doing this total failure of elite accountability. We've been doing it since Iran-Contra, & really since 1865. And we keep not fixing our broken anti-democratic institutions. Enough.

The real worry is not the next two years, but the 2-4 after that. If this is a bellwether, we are never going to get the real, serious, major institutional reform that we need to make sure that this era of lawless authoritarianism doesn't happen again, even if we get a Democratic president in 2029.
