Just realized this could be seen as a defense of Twitter, which it is not. It’s a nasty place that just gets nastier the more attention it’s given. I think Musk having his hands in the algorithm makes it especially heinous. Reasonable people should just leave it. You’re giving it relevance.

This is the way every algorithm-based social media platform has worked for like a decade. You are fed what the platform thinks you like. If you interact with hateful shit, you’ll be fed more hateful shit. The algorithm doesn’t distinguish between positive/negative of interactions.
