Here’s a theory of change I hear every day: More disasters will catalyse climate action. Here’s what it completely misses: If we don’t know what to do and don’t think we can make a difference, it won’t. That’s why talking solutions is so critical. We won’t act without them. More ⬇️

In contrast to the unrepresentative nature of the speakers against rezoning, speakers in support were from communities with median household incomes of about $91,000 on average. The writer couldn't share these numbers in the public hearing because pointing it out was deemed discriminatory.
So, what did our research dig up? The same trend Einstein found across North America is occurring in Calgary. Across both the guidebook and R-CG meetings, 245 speakers spoke in opposition and announced what neighbourhood they were from. The average community median household income of opposition speakers in these meetings was $145,000, which is $40,000 higher than Calgary’s average. In the guidebook meeting, the average community median household income was a whopping $188,000, which is $83,000 higher than Calgary’s average.

One of the most interesting things about Dutch cycling culture is how long people keep cycling. Even at 75+ you still see many people on the bike, often every day. That is not by chance. Safe cycle lanes, smooth surfaces, and clear crossings make cycling possible at every age.

Cities should be designed so they are friendly to those who are very young, those who are old and those of any age who have mobility challenges. Very few single family dwelling, duplex, quadplex, simplex, etc are set up for a person in a wheel chair. Many apts. & condos are not either.

The Muhammad Ali - George Chuvalo fight on March 29, 1966 at Maple Leaf Gardens was legendary. The fight went the distance, with Ali calling Chuvalo the toughest man he ever fought. After the fight, Chuvalo went dancing, while Ali went to the hospital. This is the story. 🧵 1/10
Black-and-white photo of George Chuvalo and Muhammad Ali boxing in the ring. Ali, on the right, is mid-punch with his right glove extended toward Chuvalo’s head. Chuvalo, on the left, leans slightly back with his guard partly raised, his face showing impact and strain. Both men are shirtless, wearing boxing gloves and trunks, with sweat visible on their bodies. The ropes of the ring and a dark, indistinct background frame the action.
