Dems worried last year that this delayed implementation of the deep Medicaid cuts in the 'One Big Beautiful Bill' would defang their attacks on the campaign trail, leaving voters unmoved by the message that a health care apocalypse was just around the corner. But for many, it has already arrived.

Republicans tried to punt health care cuts until after the midterms. It didn’t work.
While most GOP-enacted cuts to Medicaid and other safety net programs won’t happen until 2027, Democrats are speaking to the voters already feeling the squeeze.

I find it interesting that people I follow who are often somewhat abolitionist on other crimes are absolutely insistent that people who commit sexual assault should never be admitted back into society. I think it says a lot about how it's harder to forgive a crime that you've experienced yourself.

Rumors about “rigged elections" are now a fixture of U.S. elections, leading to diminished trust in election results & democracy (broadly). These rumors can sometimes be hard to debunk, esp. in their early stages. Our UW team has identified the 6 common ways that election integrity rumors mislead:
Infographic titled "Six Ways 'Rigged Election' Rumors Mislead." A two-column table pairs six labeled categories with descriptions. The first three categories are:

No Evidence: The rumor is entirely unsubstantiated. There's no evidence to support the rumor.

Fake/False Evidence: The rumor is based on fake or synthetic evidence (e.g. AI-generated content), manipulated evidence, or false witness testimony.

Misinterpreted Evidence: This rumor is based upon real evidence that has been misinterpreted or intentionally mischaracterized to create a false impression.

A black banner then introduces the final three categories: "Real Evidence, Real Voting Issue, False Narrative."

Exaggerated Impact: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but falsely insinuates or exaggerates impact on election results.

Ignored Remedies: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but ignores and/or obscures the remedies that would address this problem

False Blame: The rumor centers on a real issue with voting but either falsely attributes intent for an accidental issue or places blame on an innocent party.

The government moving or hiding jailed people to avoid review by courts isn't some loophole in our habeas corpus rights. This government behavior has been considered a violation of the people's habeas corpus rights since at least the Habeas Corpus Act of 1679. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habeas_...
Jailors were forbidden to move prisoners from one prison to another or out of the country to evade the writ. In case of disobedience jailers would be punished with severe fines which had to be paid to the prisoner.[5][6]

I wrote about this happening in the art world beginning in March 2025, after tariffs were first implemented against Canada and Mexico: www.artnews.com/art-news/mar...
Before the implementation of the tariffs, Nielsen had just spent the last several weeks in Mexico City, meeting local collectors and speaking with galleries about connecting its art market to Canadian collaborators. “They want access to bigger markets,” she said. “But they’re also looking for alternatives to America.”

“If the Americans just want to be by themselves, then you know, the world is a big place, right?” Bulger said. “There are lots of different friendships and alliances that can form really quickly—they might form because we’re in this economic war. In times of strife, people develop fast friendships with people that are in similar circumstances. If that’s what the States wants, that’s what they’re going to get.”
