the skyline of the chicago loop as viewed from the west. the red, purple, and peach hues of the sunset are reflected in the glass of the buildings, contrasted with the dusty blue of the dimming sky

There's so much that could be done to improve housing and land use policies in Chicago, but there's also one thing that would be a great step in the right direction that can be done this year! Ask your state electeds to pass the BUILD Plan: actionnetwork.org/letters/pass...

Pass the BUILD Plan!
Illinois is facing a growing housing affordability crisis and we won’t solve it without building more homes. The BUILD Plan (HB 5626; SB 4060, 4061, 4062, 4063, 4064, and 4071) is a comprehensive pa...

I just started listening to this but aaaaaah it's so exciting to have someone in a leadership position talk so positively and enthusiastically about not just transit but cities. not defensive about safety, affirmative about the joy and connection that people experience in urban spaces

SRO’s are a really important lower rung of housing. we need to make them easier to build, or more people will end up on the streets. see the OG thread for actions you can take at city council, and spread the word!

Took a (very) rainy walk through the Loop tonight. I was absolutely soaked, but my camera stayed dry enough.
The pavement in Chicago is wet from a day-long rain. Street and traffic lights reflect on the stored in vivid colors. In the foreground, a person with an umbrella is an out-of-focus silhouetteCalder's Flaming - an orange, abstract metal sculpture in Chicago stands in a wet, reflective plaza. The sculpture is reflected in the rain coating the plaza's stone pavers in the evening with buildings in the background

The biggest victory here isnt even the bus lane itself. Its a victory over The Process: - make a committee - meet with The Groups - make a report - start a non-binding referendum - make a pilot - make a report - make a plan - deploy a few years later People are SICK of this.

Two panel comic. Panel 1: a bat hangs upside-down from a telephone line at sunset. The bat is in front of a billboard advertising the Florida Mega Jackpot, which is valued at $5,318,008 - represented with a digital ticker. Panel 2: the POV flips to the bat’s upside-down perspective, which makes the digital numbers look like they spell “BOOBIES”. The bat appears delighted.
