What makes mainline tolling a better political story than cordon pricing is that surface streets stay “free”. Don’t want to pay the toll? Take Elston or Roosevelt or whatever. Want to get there fast? Pay a small premium so we can maintain these facilities that are rapidly approaching end of life.

Took a Divvy e-bike from Jeff Park to Montclare on entirely low-stress side streets including a bit of the Roscoe greenway and while I still need to take a Lyft home because Divvy dies at the city limits, it’s really hard to argue against the utility of the bike grid

Going to add that much of ReVision can probably be salvaged and readopted by a NITA-led effort, but a much more explicit focus on interagency transfers in the collar counties and a more holistic reimagining of a unified Cook County bus network should be NITA’s bus planning priorities.
