Thanks for writing all that. I've long had trouble understanding the value of things like "deep adaptation". People are left with great uncertainty between mass extinction and 'not too bad, for us at least'. That's actually OK so long as there's clarity about what we need to do. #ClimateAction

When looking at the full global picture it becomes obvious that we are now living in a much changed climate. In summer 1976, north-west Europe was a lonely hot spot in a sea of cooler temperatures. In summer 2025, the world is bright red. The climate is unrecognisable compared to 50 years ago.

Happy birthday to the heatwave of 1976 which began today 50 years ago, peaking at 35.9°C. If a comparable heatwave happened in the current climate it would be 3-4°C hotter, peaking at 38-39°C. And the actual forecast is for temperatures of 38-39°C in the next few days with a red heatwave warning.
The summer of 1976 translated into a warmer climate.

You mean the supposed supposed 35 °C threshold of wet bulb temperature where healthy adults can't survive? There are potentially lethal effects from 31 "C wet bulb. It might make sense to report wet bulb temperature rather than leaving you to calculate it from air temp and humidity.

Watching climate activists fall for fossil fuel disinformation about solar in rural areas is disappointing yet not surprising. Yes, we need more parking lots covered in solar canopies, but that doesn’t mean that solar farms in rural areas are inherently bad!
