My babysitter told me that centipedes were deadly venomous. I was horrified of them for years. I saw Legend when I was seven. Tim Curry (RIP) as Darkness haunted my nights, keeping me from falling asleep. Since we were a Catholic family, my parents couldn't tell me Satan wasn't out to get me.

Saw Her Private Hell last weekend. I went in with high hopes, but I’m forced to admit that the blue-and-pink neon synthwave aesthetic has become too commonplace to sustain visual interest or compensate for an undercooked plot or characters. The vibe has died. It will be remembered fondly.

Sound of Falling (2026) Perhaps the best film I've seen this year. I adored it, but I am going to need to return to it again to better navigate its misty timeline. A half-lidded vision of sexuality and death from a largely feminine perspective, spanning several generations. A bit repetitive. (4.5/5)

The fact is that a filmed version of the Greek Bronze Age that opted for as much historical accuracy as possible would be rated NC-17 due to near-constant rape scenes, torrents of gore from unflinching depictions of visceral animal sacrifices, and be psychologically alienating to every viewer.
