For today’s #BirdOfTheDay Alt theme #Eating, I offer this Monk Parakeet (Myiopsitta monachus) on a fig tree (Ficus sp.) in Montevideo, Uruguay. The insulation of their large, colonial stick nests is one reason why Monk Parakeets are able to survive cold winters & they are found in northern cities.

Had a lovely encounter with a sweet and cute little red fox on the way home today. It was in the road just before we turn onto our street, and we stopped to let it get past. It went to the side of the road, so we sat there curiously regarding each other for a while before it slinked into the woods.
