We are truly living in the age of diarrhea. Literal, metaphorical. Spiritual

anywayyy, i’ve been watching through the Harry Potter series for the first (complete) time in my life, and genuinely the worst part of this saga is how little attitude the students cop at unreasonable authority figures. this lady in pink deserves all the smoke, quite frankly.

lowkey one of the most isolating parts of being a man living with hEDS is that i’ve yet to meet another man living with hEDS 🫩 even though its autosomal-dominant pattern of inheritance should theoretically predispose all sexes & genders to hEDS equally, men account for as little as 10% of diagnoses

Once you have a lot of money it becomes easier to get more money by doing nothing, which disincentivizes work. This is why all our billionaires post insane bullshit all day. If they had to work they'd be too busy to act like this, doubly benefiting society

under stressful conditions, E. coli may initiate its SOS response to downregulate cell division while continuing to make copies of its genome, resulting in filamentous, multinucleoid cells like this one. if conditions improve, the cell can then divide at multiple sites to yield multiple progeny. 🤓🔬
E. coli bacteremia (Gram stain)

This photomicrograph was taken at ×1000 magnification after the specimen had incubated for ≈12 h. under anaerobic conditions. A filamentous E. coli cell from the top-right quadrant of the same photomicrograph.

anyway did y’all know bacteria age? 💀
This depiction of a rod-shaped bacterium like _E. coli_ undergoing three rounds of binary fission demonstrates how bacterial cells accumulate “aging factors” asymmetrically between progeny across generations. Since, generally speaking, these bacteria divide by elongating and then separating at their centers, each division produces two daughter cells with “old” lateral aspects and “new” medial aspects, relative to the parent cell.

My teen, who had dreamt of being an astrophysicist, just told me he wants to go to law school because, “Science isn’t going to be a priority in the US in the future…I don’t want a job where I’ll be constantly worried my funding will be taken away.” Gutting. How many future scientists have we lost?
