Something that PIC abolitionists are attentive to is that you should not build things that you will have to dismantle a few years later because of the harms they cause.

Today We Must Finally Remember What The 9/11 Commemorations Ignore
Righteous victimhood fueled the War on Terror. 25 years later, we also have to remember all of those slain under its banner

"The argument that we need more domestic production because otherwise we will import more oil and gas is essentially an argument for maintaining fossil-fuel demand. It takes the failure to reduce demand and uses it as the justification for producing more."

yeah this is a separate conversation but one of the things that hasn’t quite bubbled up from scholarship into mainstream thinking is that american slavery was a system centered principally on reproduction. forced birth for capital accumulation is what it was

It would be useful and smart for left candidates to start using common language to push common solutions. Simple example: programs whose costs rise when the economy falls need to be paid for fully by the Federal govt, which not only can but should be in deficit. Huge benefit to state/local budgets.

Setting out the pre-capitulation Democratic line early so it will just be "common sense" by 2029. A few stern emails, some body cameras & training sessions & everything will be right as rain. Neither DHS, ICE, nor the current Senate can be reformed. There must be an alternative.

Reminds me of this Onion article… Seriously though, power and system change is what of course matters the most but 1) if you’re an individual in North America or Europe you have an outsized impact and 2) human systems, themselves, are made up of individuals that other individuals can influence.

"meeting people where they are" means you have to accept that they sincerely believe what they believe. It does NOT mean that you have to pretend to agree with their beliefs. In fact, you must be honest when you don't. Grown ups have to deal with people who don't agree with them all of the time.

ICE is engaged in a very large escalation nationwide, with the agency claiming to be hitting record arrest numbers amid the return of quotas. This has gotten very little attention from the media because ICE learned lessons from the chaotic disasters of Kristi Noem’s tenure. Keep a watch.
