The CPC is chomping at the bit to replicate the Fauci hearings in Canada. Even the reanimated corpse of Stockwell Day is being dragged in to call for witchhunts against health officials.
Dean Allison QT, Aug 14, 2026:

Great video @Stockwell_Day

Stockwell Day tweet:

The COVID AGENDA Must be Investigated, Says Stockwell Day

The post is a 2:44 min video of Day calling for a witchhunt against the public health response to COVID in Canada

I realize the overlap of parents who use chatgpt for everything and people who see their kids as objects they acquired for the sake of appearances and don't really want to meaninfully engage with is a circle, but this is still so grim. They can't even chat with their kids on the morning school run?

Seems as good a time as any to repeat this. (And, yes, it's obviously many provinces' bans, not just Ontario's.) Glad to see the premiers mostly holding firm so far, because we shouldn't now move the goalposts in terms of what's needed for those bans to be lifted. www.thestar.com/business/opi...

Public libraries are one of the MOST beneficial public services and they provide an amazing return on investment. Unfortunately for us, that "return" is purely social (i.e. makes people's lives better), and our current leaders only seem to care about padding the pockets of private business owners.

Even if this turns out to be another TACO moment--tick, tick--just saying this shit damages our societies, helps destroy fundamental aspects of how politics is conducted & helps create a more violent and unstable world. There is no "sensible centrist" long game to play against this sort of insanity.

It didn't like looking at it, mostly, but over time it just became one of those things that was too obvious to bother with. It's all sickening.

A tariff “refund” mostly goes to whoever wrote the tariff check: the importer of record. That’s not the same person who paid more at the register. So refunds -- if they're offered -- might sound like consumer relief, but in reality, they're corporate windfalls.
