Dedicating a solid minute of your speech to how the tax code is too long and complicated and then having the main policy proposal be "more caveats and loopholes for inheritance tax" is just *chefs kiss*

The problem is that the last year has shown that she's wrong. The numbers have dropped like a stone, but her framing has contributed to a mood music that borders on perpetual hysteria. And she refuses to see that.

Can’t eat a sandwich until you subscribe to sandwiches. Can’t eat today’s sandwich until it has applied daily sandwich updates. Sandwich now has adverts even though you paid for ad-free sandwich. Can pay again to have less sandwich adverts. Now you can eat the sandwich, but it’s smaller.

NEW Why holding a placard is a terrorist act, while causing disruption in a balaclava is not The mess caused by ministers and the police not taking terrorism law seriously By me at @prospectmagazine.co.uk www.prospectmagazine.co.uk/ideas/law/th...

Recent events in England now reveal the practical difference between terrorists and protesters. It would seem that terrorists peacefully hold placards and get immediately arrested, while protesters wear black uniforms and balaclavas and disrupt infrastructure and do not get arrested.

How did we get into this mess? How have we placed ourselves in the position where terrorism legislation is used to detain and prosecute peaceful protesters, while those adopting the terror tactics of private armies seem to be free to do as they wish?

The reason is that for some time British politicians have not taken terrorism legislation seriously, and that ministers have got into the habit of misusing terror laws for easy targets.

The BBC taking the line that it's "unclear" if Trump offering cash for people to vote Republican is illegal is bizzare, because if it is "unclear", feels like the story should be - contrary to a hundred years of legal theory US electoral law doesn't ban literally bribing the electorate

Too many people at the top of the BBC think that they should be competing with the private sector not providing an important thing that the market can't. Should focus on providing detailed coverage of 'what's in it?' that someone with the reading age of a seven year old can parse.

I think a lot about canvassing a older woman in 2017 who ranted loudly about immigration and how she'd been Labour and would never vote for us again because of it. We checked our records and so far as we could tell she'd never voted Labour. Keir's strategy seems entirely based on winning her vote.

Presuming that there are two kinds of voters, a) those that agree with the below and b) those that don't. Voter B) now won't vote for you and Voter A) still won't vote for because they trust Farage over you to "deal with it". Congratulations, you've played yourself.

It has been 3 years since Royal Assent was given to the repeal of the Vagrancy Act (1824). But people forced to sleep rough still face fines or even prison because parliament has failed to complete repeal. Thank you to Baroness Alicia Kennedy for raising this vital issue.
