In the age of generic, battleship grey pubs what a standout The Elms Inn, Burton is. Beautiful, natural wood interior, bench seating in the bay windows. The Bass is good but this afternoon they've Theakstons Old Peculiar from the wood. Smooth, rich (but not excessively tannic) Superb.

B&B’s experiences here reflect changes in beer across the board. Whether you’re a young drinker who doesn’t know their ale fro lager or an expert, the thrill of the hunt isn’t motive enough to overcome bad beer. We’re all defaulting to safer bets.

I hate seeing my buddy spending years working on his AI beer app that got less relevant as time went on (and I think completely irrelevant at this point) but he keeps pushing through hoping for a big payday, working long hours with Claude to build it and talking like he has conversations with Claude
